Speaking of vaccine reactions, I just received my third booster dose of Moderna yesterday.

Warning: We all know how the second dose is worse than the first. Well, for me the third is worse than the second. It's been about 18 hours and I'm still experiencing muscle aches, a mild headache and chills. Along with tiredness and a strange undescribable feeling that all is not right. They told me it might happen and to try ibuprofen if it did. It helps surprisingly well, so that was right.

I'm told that this is really a good thing (yeah, right) because the sense of mild illness is due to the immune response the vaccine is triggering. So roughly speaking, the sicker you feel, the more immunity you have. I guess that my first two shots left me with considerable immunity even now, if my body was so displeased with the new dose of vaccine.

Of course I also got a flu shot at the same time and maybe there was some cross-reaction. I don't know.

Yeah,,the worse you fill the stronger the immune response. Think of your immune system as an army and the vaccine as a drill. I haven't gotten my booster yet and have had only the 2 Pfizers. I'm 62 so my turn should be coming up soon.

Ok, back to normal today

After two Astrazeneca jabs, a flu jab and (today) a Moderna jab - no reaction whatsoever to any of them (age 67).

Likely so. Actually I'm not bothered about me but there are folks with grannies and grandads who are pretty much crucial to keeping a family working (that is to say solvent and 'happy'). For them I think masks and social distancing are appropriate.

CDC director has recently stated that vaccines do not keep someone from spreading COVID. So yeah, at-risk individuals should take other precautions than relying solely on vaccines.

My two shots concluded way back in February, but I assume I can't get a booster yet because of age and lack of underlying health conditions qualifying me for vulnerable status.

Pretty sure I was exposed to the real deal back in September, though, with a slight, inconsequential reaction a few days later. Maybe that rejuvenated any waning immune defense.

Without reserving, walked in and explained to pharmacist we were flying within Canada on Friday and wife and I got moved up to front of line for my third shot today. I couldn’t believe our luck. Thanked everyone there for their trouble. In Ontario we have to make our own reservation for 3rd dose, Moderna in this case, and not all injection sites have any doses to give as they ran out of their allotment since approval given couple days ago. Off to visit grandkids with one less thing to worry about.

70 some odd percent of new Omicron infections are among the fully vaccinated.
