So... Kurt wanted people to believe his son was still alive so he could frame his own murders on him, in case the victims were discovered? This jumps over the issue of how Kurt knew for sure that his son was dead, though. That he had to make up stuff.

Now that it's confirmed that Harrison is truly messed-up psychologically, feel like I know what the "big ending" will be that supposedly shocks the web. Don't know how the production team could not resist choosing the irony of that one.

I'm not sure of the angle yet with Kurt and his son, but it is starting to feel like classic Dexter again, yea? I love the pivoting between giving in to his dark passenger, and playing the hero to Molly. Clancy Brown takes the show up a notch though, happy he's part of the cast. I'm also liking the nostalgia and flashbacks, and Dexter's line towards the end ''should I shut the door?''

I like how the actor plays a guy who is likeable enough...normal enough...all mirroring what he sees around him, but deep down, he knows he'll always be an outsider. Looking forward to him going all forensic-mode, like the Dexter of yesteryear.

I hope that they don't come up with a spin off series featuring Harrison, I don't care for his character, tbh. Back to Kurt's son, I don't think he could know that his son is alive - perhaps, Kurt lying about face-timing his son has more to do with wanting to call off the police search - because as they search for Matt, they may catch on to Kurt's murders. Just my rough draft hypothesis.

Sooo, is Kurt lying about his dad killing Iris? I’m thinking he killed her and is pinning it on his dad. The flashbacks suggest this but the DNA match seemed inconclusive. Hmm.

Does Kurt know that Dexter killed his son? Questions. Didn’t like the abrupt ending on this one and I hope they don’t teeter on sloppiness because it’s been a decent season so far.

Since Bishop released him, the DNA sample was apparently too old to finely discriminate between son and father. I take the flashback as what really happened, rather than Kurt's story and speculations about his Dad. 

Kurt does know Dexter killed Matt. Tipped off by the falling ash, Kurt found the unmelted titanium screws that had been inside his son's body (via surgery). Sending one to Dexter. That latter unintendedly comes in handy for Dex in the next episode.

After the ending of episode 8, I'm not sure the finale will be exactly as I expect, but could yet be somewhere in the neighborhood.

There's another way the series could end, too, that would be far more shocking to everyone (as far as moral compasses go). But I just don't see that happening if this is the only season.

I'm halfway through this latest episode, and while it's a bit far-fetched (Kurt getting away with murdering multiple women for the past 25 years and only Dexter has caught on in all that time? ) I'm enjoying the suspense. Really not sure where they're going with this, I need to catch up on this episode and see if Kurt dies...or Dexter's son dies. I can't see Dexter being killed off the series, but you never know. I wonder if we can lump this in with the Christmas movie genre? 

As an aside, I like how the character of Dexter isn't wooden in this season. He has tremendous empathy for his son, and he portrays a hero of sorts, although he knows his vigilante brand of justice is wrong. I like how Harrison has shifted from hostility towards his dad, to feeling understood by him, and even loved. Sometimes, this can feel forced in limited series/movies due to the time constraints, but it feels natural between the two of them.

Okay, just watched the last 15 minutes while at lunch (working from home has its benefits) and wow. Kurt's creepy bunker of horrors, Dexter killing Kurt in front of his son, Harrison's flashbacks, Kurt's final words ....didn't expect all of that. I think the underground bunker of Kurt's ''trophies'' was a bit over the top...no need to add shock value at this stage of things. But, whatever, maybe they thought it would amplify the horror, since at times, the show comes across as dark comedy. We need to remind people that this is a show about serial killers...

I really hope that Angela isn't murdered by Dexter (or Harrison for that matter), to get her ''out of the way,'' because she's catching on. Hopefully, she won't be murdered at all, but you know, people are turning up dead all over the place, now. If that happens, it will show that Dexter isn't a ''misunderstood psychopath'' who merely seeks justice for all, but rather someone who kills when it suits his needs. I have always thought it was a bit of both for him. Dexter can talk about ''codes'' all he likes, what he does is wrong. We shall see...

I'd prefer that it not be Angela to bring Dexter to justice. Strangely enough, I'd like to see Harrison do it. It's not acceptable to kill people, unless it's self defense, and even then, people likely wrestle with having killed someone despite their own lives being at stake. Taking a life would be devastating I think, even if your own life was in imminent danger. Dexter seems to somewhat struggle with it (visions of his sister serve as his conscience of sorts) but not enough to stop doing it.

I'm hopeful that deep down, Harrison doesn't want to be like his dad...and realizes that there is a better way of handling his ''dark passenger.'' Like you know...lots of therapy? lol

So a second season of "New Blood" might be a possibility after all -- it would just [likely] be minus "Dexter" in the title.  Makes further sense now, beyond his "discontinuity" reason, as to why Clyde Phillips didn't want to describe this miniseries as the 9th-season of "Dexter".

Events are fitting right on track to what I expect the main, "shocking surprise" of the ending to be. 

Thrown in there as an extra, I wouldn't rule out some kind of 180-degree flip with regard to what's anticipated from Angela Bishop. Unlikely and perhaps no good reason for feeling that way, but the enormous amount of tolerance she's had with "Jim Lindsey" up to even this point is curious -- along with all the effort the show is putting in to make it seem that her next actions are utterly predictable slash inevitable [especially as a police chief].

OTOH, such a twist might actually interfere with my prior [main] expectation, and lead the finale down a completely different path. Thus, why I'm sticking with "unlikely" to happen on the probability scale.

Dexter will become the victim of his own code. Harrison will execute him in the same style as his father's victims.

Dexter not only survives, but does so minus receiving imprisonment or some other living punishment. Which pretty much demands more seasons in order to mitigate an ending that borders close to how the original series concluded.

The showrunners would eventually be forgiven for that kind of perverse insanity if later revealed that the revival was planned all along to cover at least another season. But until that revelation, the web would be in turmoil via the redundant outrage of "How could you do the same thing again -- but even worse?!!!"

Either scenario has potential for a riveting new season but I can’t see Harrison carrying the entire show. The thing about Harrison - he hurts people for different reasons, his dark passenger’s agenda seems different than Dexter’s. I see Harrison as more vengeful and psychotic, while Dexter is keen on vigilante justice. He’s more controlled and doesn’t just snap like Harrison did during the wrestling match, for instance.

Dexter going to prison and successfully escaping might be interesting. So many possibilities.
