How Destructive is Green Energy?

Not sure if the following link is a credible source. There are some incredible numbers in the link and some really ecologically destructive solutions on the way.

https://foreignpolicy.com/2019/09/06/the...enewables/

Was thinking that just transitioning to green is going to be messy, I don't go around extolling green's virtue because it's humans who are supposedly attempting to change current energy habits. Something tells me there's more to the change than what we like to believe. If the changeover is going to produce greenhouse gases while we're still burning fossil fuels then how can we be sure levels are dropping?

I don't know how many years worth of fossil fuel supply there is left in the world. Its not going away even if we get to our peak green level, therefore we have just extended its use. I guess its better to have fossil fuel emissions spread over many years instead of fewer but in the end, when its all gone, what difference will it make? We were going to use it up anyways.

Seems to me the best we can do is to remove the gases via machinery and put carbon back in the ground.

The Jeff Gibbs slash Michael Moore film Planet of the Humans actually addresses the environmental costs of raw material/mineral extraction and conversion into fabricated components.

"Gibbs then interviews Ozzie Zehner, author of Green Illusions, who reports that solar, wind, and electric vehicle technologies require mined minerals, including rare earths, and heavy industrial processes to produce – with new mines opening as demand for green technology rises."

The documentary was trashed by that very alliance of Green political/scientific interests and Big Industry. Demonstrating that the Left will eat its own when any rogue or cynical members expose what they're really up to or contradictions or what the end results are beneath the hallucinogenic euphoria of naive idealism.

Global warming and green energy have sort of taken a back seat to the corona virus. You'd think humans going extinct would be a greater problem than old codgers* nearing the end of their days. I'm thinking the politicians will get back to it eventually or at least keep in their hip pocket but there's always danger that won't happen because those at the public trough are going to focus on where the most votes are. Even Justin, our fearless leader, has said although we're to think green, he has to deal with the alleged disgraceful treatment of the aboriginals....hint: global warming is easier but must contain fewer votes .

*I can get away with that because I am one, especially in my daughters' eyes plus much reduced yardage with my golf swing

Global warming has always only been a Trojan horse for leftist power grabs.

Really? At a CO₂ spewing volcano?

I don't doubt that there's some global warming. What I doubt is that it's catastrophic enough to warrant a complete socialist takeover of the economy.

Yeah, just make up your own fake stuff. Is it possible that making up fake stuff is the problem rather than the solution?

So what are you calling fake? That Mauna Loa is a volcano, that volcanoes spew CO₂, that some global warming does occur, or that it's not catastrophic? O_o

The thing is that the people making the measurements aren't stupid and aren't blindly pursuing some political agenda - that is the difference.
