UBI and universal healthcare?

No. But if most people are going to be thrown out of work, then something like it may become necessary as a last resort. It's most certainly not my preferred option.

No. I'm satisfied (so far) with Kaiser.

Quote:2. Are you worried about how many people will lose jobs due to automation?

Potentially. So far, to date, out-sourcing and off-shoring, and illegal immigration have been bigger job-killers. If you're not a professional and if you don't have an in-demand college degree, there's little work or affordable housing for you here in California. It's why the Middle Class is gradually leaving.

Quote:3. Are you worried about the environment?

No, not really. The environment will be here long after all of us are gone.

Quote:4. Do you blame Republicans, at least in part, for the problems in the US?

Yes, to some extent. I think that the country's elites are responsible and have let the American people down, big-time. The establishment Republicans certainly have their fingerprints all over many of the problems, just as the Democrats do.

Yaz and/or Billvon, would you call UBI, universal healthcare, or concerns about the environment right-wing issues?

Billvon, how do you propose handling job loss due to automation without UBI?

How did we handle job losses due to tractors? That's the way.

It's a public discussion board. Use private messages otherwise. Are you unable to process information unless it comes from Billvon?

Hey, if he's fine with you speaking for him, so be it, mate. I'll wait and see if he has any input.

It doesn't matter. Me speaking doesn't negate him speaking. Are you afraid of losing your job due to automation or did you already lose it due to automation?

Well that's a non sequitur.

Neither. I agree that we've naturally found new work when new technology edges us out. And my job can't be automated anyway.
If you have a question, just ask it. No need for your little games.

Anyway, all the things in the OP were concerns in the El Paso shooter's manifesto.

Seems Billvon has the most in common.
