Spiritual revelations & ramblings

I wasn’t evangelizing. I didn’t say faith is a virtue. When topics come up that deal with spirituality, I share that I believe in God. Just like others share their views. I don’t consider discussing these topics in a forum within their respective subforums to be virtue signaling.

Everyone's views are different in a number of areas...politics, social justice, etc...is it virtue signaling simply because you don't hold the same views?

You were discussing evangelism, and thoughts and prayers, but faith in god is consider a virtue, why?

Ask all the atheists who, when polled, say they trust atheists less than theists.

The results of the study “show that across the world, religious belief is intuitively viewed as a necessary safeguard against the temptations of grossly immoral conduct,” an international team wrote in the journal Nature Human Behaviour. It revealed that “atheists are broadly perceived as potentially morally depraved and dangerous”.
...
“It is striking that even atheists appear to hold the same intuitive anti-atheist bias,” the study’s co-author, Will Gervais, a psychology professor at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, said. - https://www.theguardian.com/world/2017/a...secularity

I didn't say that you were. I said that you were discussing it in the post right above mine.

Penn Jillette, an atheist, says he doesn't respect people who don't proselytize. "How much do you have to hate someone to believe that everlasting life is possible and not tell them." https://youtu.be/6md638smQd8?t=3m

And it's very true. If you actually believe a person's fate is sealed once they die in this life, you'd be actively damning them to hell not to tell them. So...most atheists want that kind of hate? The kind of "I could easily save your life but I'm just going to stand here and watch you drown" kind of callousness?

It's not true, it's just a get out of jail card for being an ass%ole. It's subjective after all and everyone knows that it can be no more than a "belief" and everyone has different ones. Best to keep proselytizing to a minimum and about things based on evidence (best healthcare practices for example).

Do I need to find someone and label them, a theist, before typing my response?

Again, if you don't have the spine to let people know your personal boundaries, they cannot be faulted for you passive-aggressively thinking they're an asshole. And if you lack the ability to put yourself in the shoes of others, at least enough to not presume the worst possible motives, then you probably have no conception of their beliefs...nor the callousness it would entail to assume you don't deserve even the chance to go to heaven.

And thinking people should just divorce their most deeply-held beliefs from their daily interactions is as feasible as you refraining from sharing your opinions...which for all I know are your most deeply-held beliefs. Or should we only have dragnet-style interactions with others? O_o
