Definitely going to alert anyone who might have a strong immune system that they better be prepared for misery with the 2nd shot (with Pfizer, anyway). I'm not planning on taking another vaccine any time soon, no matter what new strains cross the horizon.

Thanks for the heads up. I hope you feel better soon.

I finally took acetaminophen 25 hours after receiving the vaccine -- enough was enough. Extreme body pain came back six hours later when it wore off, though -- even the chills. Seems to have at last started abating on its own.

Talked to some elders (70 & 88 years) who were injected with Moderna. The worst they experienced were sore shoulders after the second shot. But their immune systems are degraded, so that doesn't necessarily mean that it's milder in comparison to Pfizer. I doubt there's much difference between the two in terms of side effects.

Second COVID Shot Packs the Big Punch:  "Zubin Damania, MD, a.k.a. ZDoggMD, said the second dose of his Moderna vaccine knocked him out: 'I couldn't sleep, I had a fever, rigors, body aches, a headache -- full-on man-flu,' he joked on a recent episode of his show."

Tempting to say it's worse than the flu, but may be only because I could take something regularly to relieve the symptoms if it was a virus.

A possible assumption is considering how vaccinations are really about stimulating your immune system against covid by emulating having it. It would suggest you are lucky to have had a vaccination. The point being that if you are suffering that bad from the vaccination, you can only imagine how bad actually getting covid would have been for you.

Developed a persistent cough (first of the winter) after painful side effects faded. But taking quercetin and a lot of vitamin C has snuffed it for the time being. Well beyond the point where I feel I should avoid taking things via worry it would obstruct the vaccine doing its job.

Interesting CC! Glad you’re feeling better. So does this mean you will have resistance to Covid19? Like you won’t even be a carrier, or can you still catch it but it won’t affect you, symptom-wise?

Vaccine can make it much more difficult to develop COVID-19 (the disease) when becoming infected with novel coronavirus. But it's still unclear how much it hinders transmission to others, though there's likely to be some diminishing of that (whether modest or significant is what they're still trying to establish).

Can COVID vaccines stop transmission? Scientists race to find answers

Well, I just got jabbed at Kaiser South San Francisco. Vaccine was Moderna. (We had no say in what vaccine they gave us, it was function of what they had available.) Apart from some very minor swelling around the injection site, I've had no reaction so far.

The jabbing was taking place in a large white tent structure outside the hospital. From outside it looked almost deserted, but inside it was crowded with all sorts of people. The jabbers were mostly nurses it looked like, it was an lvn that jabbed me (very expertly too). The jabbees were mostly older people. There were people sitting behind tables logging everyone in on laptops. We had to fill out a questionaire about whether we were under 16 (yeah, right), whether we have a history of allergic reactions to various things, etc.

Was surprised that my appointment for dose #2 is for 28 days later. Appropriate somehow.

In comparison, I had to come back three weeks later for my 2nd Pfizer-BioNTech shot (no choice in receiving that vaccine, either). With a Feb 22 appointment, was lucky the super-cold spell and deep snow/ice had just ended slash thawed.

You're over 65, so you shouldn't suffer any agonizing side effects from your next jab (haven't encountered an over-retirement age senior yet who has). Younger people who get sick often may not experience the rough stuff, either.

I read today that the logging industry was included with the first tier. I thought, WFT, but I guess that a lot companies are lobbying for their employees.

On a different note: I tried out the Oculus all-in-one virtual reality headset today. H-o-l-y crap! When someone touches you, you almost get a fantom like sensation. It’s the strangest thing. Very cool!

I didn't even notice it. Just like I didn't notice that I typo'd a "not" in place of a "no" in the original version of a reply elsewhere, the other day.

I have a tendency to type DIY as DYI, one of many unfathomable brain glitches I've acquired in the last few years that I have to be on constant alert for. Dodgy
