Never had the crazy passenger scenario play out. I always get the crying baby behind or in front of me plus a seat mate who has to pee every 10 mins. Took one trip to BC during covid and the plane was full of Chinese nationalists heading home. Many wore Hazmat suits and all kinds of body protection. No one spoke English. Fortunately they put me, my wife and another guy in the back row. We were terrified thinking of bringing covid to our grandkids, never did tell the daughter. It was an anxious few days to see if symptoms developed.

Going back to BC this Xmas, this time using Air Canada. Up until now I’ve always flown WestJet which flew out of nearest international airport(Hamilton). This time we set out from Toronto but going first class, a friend of ours gifted us some of his accumulated air miles so it’s a free ride.

Your experience going first class during the holidays should be enjoyable. I'm not much for flying during the holidays, so many delays pre-Covid, I can only imagine how it will be during Covid. Confused

I think I use commas too often. In crafting an email this afternoon to a client, there were blue dotted lines all over the place, indicating that commas weren’t needed. Hmm, strange. I really thought commas were necessary in those sentences. lol Dodgy

Reminds me of the meme...

Let's eat grandma.
Let's eat, grandma.

Commas save lives.

The opposite happens to me. I get yellow lines all over the place chastising me for not using enough commas. A bot with a different resource of examples that it garners its statistical-based rules from, I guess.

Glad I’m not alone. Independent clauses. Dependent clauses. Commas come with their own set of rules to live by. There have been times when I’ve used a comma as a “soft period,” when a period would have been the better choice.

Let’s not even get into semi-colons. . .

This post really belongs in 'gadgets' but there's a hot topic there so random thoughts will have to do.
Not my idea but I wish I'd thought of it. A digital thermometer that reads 25C (77F) - just think how much energy could be saved.

Handed over some used furniture and stuff to the Haitian relief people last week. Now I find out some missionaries who were delivering furniture were kidnapped there yesterday. Don’t feel guilty but I hope those ransomed get out alive.

I dunno…Depending on how close the train is…..from this angle. Average locomotive height around 16’ makes this sculpture at least 40-50’ high but pumpkin in foreground makes it look only 8-10’ high. On a lesser note….it looks like an old tree stump or the trunk of one broken off and is no where near the thin diameter of neighbouring trees. Great art but I think the photoshopping needs work. I think the train is in photo only to make sculpture look bigger than it is but I’ve been wrong before.

I actually read the lyrics of "Smells like Teen Spirit" last night. Nihilistic nonsense as befitting the grunge anthem it became...

https://www.dictionary.com/e/slang/smell...en-spirit/

"Smells Like Teen Spirit was a single from Nevermind, the 1991 album that catapulted Nirvana to fame. Supposedly, the name came from graffiti Kathleen Hanna of the band Bikini Kill once wrote on the wall of lead singer Kurt Cobain’s hotel room. She wrote “Kurt smells like Teen Spirit” in reference to a deodorant brand that Cobain’s girlfriend at the time wore. Cobain, who didn’t know what Teen Spirit was, was said to have interpreted it as a revolutionary catchphrase and named a song after it.

The composition Cobain and the rest of Nirvana created using the title was, according to Cobain himself, an attempt at “the ultimate pop song” and was influenced by The Pixies. Although it wasn’t expected to be particularly successful, the album Nevermind became triple platinum by February of 1992, with Smells Like Teen Spirit being a major contributor to its success. The popularity of the song, the album, and the band is sometimes considered the catalyst for bringing alternative rock, and especially the 1990s grunge genre, to the mainstream.

With its distinctive, distorted guitar riff, Smells Like Teen Spirit became Nirvana’s most popular song. It served as an anthem for many of Generation X, who, like Cobain, found themselves confused and uncertain about the world around them. The song’s nihilistic vibe (“Here we are now, entertain us / I feel stupid and contagious”) appealed to many in a youth culture perceived as apathetic and cynical by outsiders.

Rolling Stone would later vote it the 9th best song of all time. It remains extremely popular and well-known even by people who don’t know any other Nirvana songs."
