On "Leaving Neverland"

The HBO documentary that relies on the testimony of two alleged victims of Michael Jackson's sexual abuse when they were kids. It was appalling to say the least. I mean I expected the abuse to have happened maybe once or twice. But the abuse was constant and repeated over the years, often within distance to the mother's sleeping quarters. The disbelief over the mothers' leniency over this. How does one approve of a 34 year old man sleeping with one's own 7 year old and 10 year old son? It's everything it seemed to be. A pedophile seducing young boys on his Neverland Ranch to the end of reducing them to objects of sexual gratification. I knew Michael Jackson was screwed up as person. But after this I know he was way more screwed up than I had ever imagined. He was a sick and disgusting pedophile using his wealth and fame to seduce young boys into sexual relationships. May he fade away into the forgetfulness he so richly deserves.

He shouldn't be forgotten, lest people once again underestimate that sort of perversion. It's like the memorials for southern Civil War heroes. It should be remembered for the teachable moment it can continue to be in perpetuity. Neither should be whitewashed or erased from history or our cultural consciousness. I haven't seen it yet, or taken a look at the background of the documentary to see what it had to weather through just to be released. But Jackson was surely as much an ongoing marketable product after his death as Elvis, so it's impressive that lawyers and potential litigation of those who would benefit from such didn't successfully halt its production and release.

Neverland itself fell into the hands of Colony Capital and they sold the property (zoning regulations prevented it from being opened to the public and thereby funding its own maintenance). Jackson apparently had a trust estate plan for everything else, but I still don't have a clue as to each who and what that holds specific rights to vaults, intellectual properties, and just the commercial exploitation of his name/image alone. Hard to believe that his past legal, Houdini escapes from prosecution truly convinced even a number of his still continuing loyal fans and celebrity supporters that he was not predatory. So won't be surprising if even after this he persists in being a postmortal money generator.

That Jackson family threatened a major lawsuit against the film's director and producers, but nothing came of it. Death threats have been made against the victims, and even Oprah has received hate from fans because of a special she hosted after the film aired on HBO. I know MJ wiggled out of the two court trials for molestation, but in the court of public opinion I think everybody knew what he was. At the Oscars death memorial segment, when MJ was shown on the screen, the audience was as silent as a graveyard. Nobody in Hollywood respected that pedophile even when he died.

Can you name any famous historical figures, who by today's standards would be considered pedophiles? How 'bout Jerry Lee Lewis or even Elvis Presley?

I don't think of all the artists who have slept with underage girls. I'm more concerned with those who have had sex with with prebubescent children.

Is that because many underage boys are commonly "mentored" by much older gay men?
