The World Before Your Feet

I've slept on a pool table before, many times.

Well at least by walking he doesn't get his bike stolen out from under him. Do you think he has been mugged, assaulted (human or animal), solicited, or even arrested (i.e. trespassing) over the years? Any brushes with serious harm or even death? There's a wide assortment of things he could experience that most people won't. Good for him, I hope film does well and he cashes in. Has he wrote a book? Pretty soon the lecture circuit, talk shows, shoe commercials and fame.

Literally said at the end that he'd never been mugged. Only walking during the day would probably help a bit. And saving the worst places to pass through for the last stages of the journey, so that at least most of his goal and legacy would be fulfilled before potentially biting the dust in an unsavory manner.

Must have missed it, my bad. Maybe criminals associate a guy who walks with someone who doesn’t have enough coin for bus fare.

Might also have something to do with the camera man following him from close behind.

Maybe much more effective at scaring things off in this context than what the tagging along camera guy was in Quarantine. And goodness knows how many other monster/horror flicks. (What a trope the "The Blair Witch Project" did unleash...)

Geez, that specific one must have come to mind out of the blue because NBC has been hawking that upcoming Jennifer Carpenter series, and the coincidence of our finally getting around to watching "Dexter" about a century after it originally ran and ended.

Math not my strength but I put together a problem anyways. See if my answer matches yours or tell me where I went wrong

Did some checking. Navigable roads in USA amount to 4.12 million miles. That number is still the same on Jan 1 2020 (too busy building walls to add infrastructure). From that date a man walks for 8 hrs a day for exactly 30 years at an average pace of 4 mph (32 miles /day) How many generations would it take to accomplish the task of walking every mile of every road that can be walked in the USA? Here's the thing....on the 20th anniversary of their walk the next generation joins the walk for another 30 years. This pattern is always repeated. However no two walkers ever walk the same stretch of road and every Feb 29th they get to rest for a day. Obviously new roads are added every year but these are not included. The first walker begins on Jan 1st 2020, how many generations will it take to walk every mile of road that exists in the USA on Jan 1, 2020 and on what date would it finish?

I calculated 14 generations involved with the trek ending June 14, 2286. Was I close?

First glance, can't imagine it taking longer to walk the roads than it did to build them. But of course the latter projects were constructed in parallel rather than series (purely linear time path).
