Old discussion mediums as a whole gradually die out. Only some of the aged residents linger around in the ruins, themselves perishing in number.
Most of iGen probably never heard of Usenet. Late Gen-X and Gen-Y deserted those original newsgroups for these web-based forums. Now it's the latter's turn to fade away as newer, shinier objects replace them. Drawing the trend-fixated youth of an era and the tardiest folk who never knew any better, just following to wherever their kids/family/community hang out.
