"But privately, I suspect, many of us, including many longstanding feminists, will be rolling our eyes, having had it with the reflexive and unnuanced sense of outrage that has accompanied this cause from its inception, turning a bona fide moment of moral accountability into a series of ad hoc and sometimes unproven accusations.
...
Perhaps even more troubling is that we seem to be returning to a victimology paradigm for young women, in particular, in which they are perceived to be — and perceive themselves to be — as frail as Victorian housewives."

Ahhhh yes..poor Harvey Weinstein and Bill Cosby and Charley Rose and Roy Moore and others...all those unproven accusations just to take down these otherwise noble and respected celebrities and figures. Yes...it's the chance of a lifetime to go public about your embarrassing sexual assault just to play victim and expose yourself to controversy and threats to your otherwise peaceful life. How dare those women speak out? How dare women expect anything more from their bosses than a grope here and an exposed penis there? Keep quiet ladies and pretend there's no problem. Know your place and don't be bitchy.

If you had but read the article, you would know that the grossest offenses were still roundly condemned. Only more "scattered, anonymous or, as far as the public knows, very vague and unspecific" accusations give the author pause. But some people are just already in the virtue-signalling mob mentality, regardless of gradation of offense or veracity of accusation.

"Natalie Barton, public information officer with the Etowah County Sheriff's Department, said that officials are speaking with a person of interest and that the ongoing investigation "does not lead us to believe that the fire is in any way related to Roy Moore or allegations made against him."" - http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/natio...story.html

""It's too coincidental to me, but whatever they say I'll go with," Johnson told AL.com. "Just right now I'm so devastated. I can't, I'm devastated." " - http://abcnews.go.com/US/100000-raised-r...d=52192189

Good news for the arson victim, but so far, the police (which she says she'll "go with") say it's unrelated.

There is quite a bit of psychology behind why people remain silent, what prompts them to come forward, and how mob mentality can take over any social movement.
No one is here to spoon feed you.
