EXCERPT: There are hundreds (by some estimates, thousands) of religions across the world. The Oxford Dictionaries defines religion as "the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods." Based on this definition, we can draw some interesting comparisons between the worship of a god and the worship of the almighty dollar. What is money if not a "superhuman controlling power"? That's what Matt Frederick, Ben Bowlin and Noel Brown discuss in this episode of Stuff They Don't Want You To Know: Is money a religion?

It's not that (all) people outwardly worship money — or the economy or financial institutions. But many of the trappings of organized religion are based around them. In his book "The Theology of Money," philosopher Philip Goodchild points out that our entire financial system is built on faith....

"we" ?
those who covet power & authority who espouse such as a disease to their offspring and so in culture make.

for their religion and godliness is nothing but lust for absolute power without accounability.
(note not to be confused with politico accountability where people get to keep all the money and walk away from the massive commercial & social devistation they have caused and pay lip service to their feeling of being un popular as if that is equal to the deaths & suffering they cause.)

postulate away ...

At least money is real. No blurry photos, lots of irrefutable evidence about its existence, powerful stuff that can do so much good and cause so much suffering. Money however, is not what I would describe as paranormal, spiritual, ethereal, beyond all understanding......

i suspect the test is very easy to apply.
simply take all the evengelical churches in america (because it seems this subject is very US centric xenophobic)
i do not see churches in europe or UK flaunting wealth & fame about like it is some type of role model of wealth and materialism, yet this is the norm in USA evengelical churches which make up the majority of church groups in the usa.

thus the test is simple
remove the money from them and what is left ?
lust & materialism ?
