You might well notice that I've enacted snow to fall on the site.  It might occasionally cease falling (which is always  good thing) however I thought that it's a small penance to try and get into the spirit of the end of another year.
No matter if you aren't religiously inclined or caught up in the blatant commercialism that doesn't help to keep carollers (Carol singers, not the car) from your door... it can just act as reference that something is going on with everybody else.
If it gets too annoying, causes too many bugs, (or it's tooo cold...) I'll remove it.
Enjoy while it lasts.

edit: on a slight different note, when did they start having a skull and crossbones character?  ☠ ส็็็็็็็

I love it. It somehow taps into an ancient prehistoric nostalgia for the last ice age. Humans evolved on a cold planet with ice and snow and wooly mammoths. Hence the need to incarcerate ourselves for long periods of time staring into the glow of photon-emitting molecular reactions. Add to that a crock pot of simmering bovine flesh and I might as well be dreaming of my long-missed paleolithic home.

Let it snow... how about freezin rain... can you do freezin rain.???

When you move the mouse sideways it changes the direction of the snow... an when you click on the "search box(?)" at the top of the page the motion of the snow stops until you click the mouse somewhare else.!!!

Since we are ramping down from Christmas and about to depart from this current year (2014), I hope all has been well over the Christmas period and hopefully all those thoughts, dreams and promises will come into fruition with the New Year.

To kick start it here, I've switched out the javascript snow for some "fireworks" (although they lack the fizzle and bang, at least they aren't going to burn anywhere down).

This coming year should hopefully be an interesting one, but we'll see how things pan out. Happy Hogmanay or New Year.

Happy 2015! Bringing in the new year with Kathy Griffin and Anderson Cooper as usual. All is well in Portland, if you're an icicle!
