VIDEO EXCERPTS: "We get to see my children this season..."

Believe it or not, Rings of Power season 3 is not that far off. [...] But I guess I should be grateful because the Rings of Power is the gift that keeps on giving.

They keep pouring more money into this abyss. If I didn't know that it was a massive vanity project, I would almost believe that Amazon was more concerned with the legacy and future of content creators who cover the show than with Professor Tolkien's work.

But as far as the show's legacy is concerned, well, it's a joke. It makes a mockery of Tolken's legendarium. It is subversive, derisive, and derivative. It will go down as the worst adaptation of all time. Something Amazon should be embarrassed about. And maybe they will be someday...

VIDEO EXCERPTS: Speaking of things that suck, Rings of Power is coming out in a few months [laughter], and they've just released a promotional still from it. Are you ready for this?

[...] So these are Durin and Disa's children, who have grown a bit since the previous seasons. ... Actors, I guess they have to swallow their pride and do all kinds of cringe things. But this is the next level. You know, costume departments, can you just make them a bit more ugly? Could you make them like hideous?

Yeah. We just want to have a good laugh with this one. Make them look inbred. That's what I'm going for. Like The Hills Have Eyes.

[...] So the showrunners have said that there's about a 5-year time jump between seasons two and three. And it's difficult to say because of the costumes, the hair, and the prosthetics and all that, but these two goobers look like they're about 30. When they're meant to be maybe 15...

Obviously, they're dwarves, so it could be a bit different. The guy in the back [laughter], he's standing in a way where it looks like he's apologizing for existing. Maybe he'll be an idiot. Perhaps he won't even be able to speak properly...

This has to be a joke, right? ... https://youtu.be/7bb9_tNlny0

Sounds like he's really counting on that. But how would he survive without routinely lambasting his own despised effigy? Luckily the bulk of the fans of RoP are likely NOT misogynistic racists waving the noble rally banner of Tolkienist purism.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power lost roughly 60% of its audience and watch time from its first season to its second season.

Actually it lost all their audience and watch time since they weren't airing it during that period. Pretty sure they'll be back once the 2nd season actually starts.

Um, seasons one and two have aired. So that drop is lost viewers, from the first to the second season.
Third season starts November 11, 2026.
Literacy is amazing!

Here's the consensus on RoP by 550 non-drunk REAL critics. So maybe they're not so intimidated by assertive women and heroic people of color..

AI Overview

"The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power holds an 84% average critic score on Rotten Tomatoes and a generally favorable 70 critic score on Metacritic, contrasted by lower user scores.

Critic Ratings

Rotten Tomatoes: The series has an 84% Tomatometer score based on over 550 critic reviews, with reviewers praising the high production value, cinematic scale, and visual effects."

So we're just pretending you didn't just talk out your ass about the drop in viewers?

When you lose 60% of your audience from the first season to the second, what out of touch critics think is meaningless. Audience says it's 48% and 30%, on RT and MC respectively. If there's not enough audience, it loses money.

I know you're too stupid to know this but real critics don't rate a movie or series based on audience popularity. And they're certainly not out to slander them and review bomb them in order to prove some political point about the inferiority of women and people of color. That's the difference between art and rightwing politics. One encourages the creative freedom of directors and studios to do their own thing while the other seeks to abolish it and censor it for the moral betterment of the viewers. I say if you hate a series so much and object to its message then just don't see it. Don't try to get it off the air just to suit your own personal moral crusade.

Audience score matches viewer drop, critic score doesn't. No amount of whining about politics is going to change that fact.

Still pretending you weren't completely ignorant about which season this show was on, huh?
