The Silent Patient

Recently finished the book ''The Silent Patient,'' by Alex Michaelides. Summary - Alicia Berenson’s life is seemingly perfect. A famous painter married to an in-demand fashion photographer, she lives in a grand house with big windows overlooking a park in one of London’s most desirable areas. One evening her husband Gabriel returns home late from a fashion shoot, and Alicia shoots him five times, and then never speaks another word.

I'll preface by saying that I love psychological thrillers, and it's rare that I find books with a surprise ending. It was good in that regard, but lacks character depth so I didn't necessarily ''feel'' much (of anything) for the cast. It received a fair amount of both negative and positive reviews by critics and general readers. It's not book-of-the-year material, but turns into a page-turner about halfway through. There are some problematic red herrings (imo) here and there, and the plot pivots between two timelines, if you like that sort of thing. I don't actually lol, but it worked well enough for this book. It will likely become the next Gone Girl or Girl on a Train type movie adaptation - has that slick, blockbuster movie feel to it. I'd recommend it if you like contemporary thriller/mysteries.
