According to US intelligence, Mediterranean countries like Italy, France, and Spain could soon be targeted by drones. Denmark in turn has warned that one or more NATO countries bordering Russia could be attacked. The Spanish daily newspaper El Mundo, citing a US intelligence source, reported on Thursday about the Kremlin's plans for a possible escalation.

A source close to the Lithuanian Ministry of Defense also stated they will use drones launched from the sea and concealed in containers. This is not difficult at all. Drone attacks on Spain, France, and Italy. According to the report, Lithuanian authorities know the type of drone Russia could use against Spain, France, or Italy. It's said that the type of drone used is a Gábor drone, which is 2 m long and has a wingspan of 2.5 m and weighs up to 18 kg with a speed of 160 km per hour and a reach of 600 kilometers.

Wow. It's amazing that they already can tell what drone will be involved in future attacks. Potentially using merchant ships as bases for drone attacks. A merchant ship could be used for transporting several of these drones. From a distance of 200 to 300 km off the coast, the flight would take about an hour and 15 minutes to two hours, depending on the speed, and they could carry an explosive charge of 4 to 5 kg, which would destroy a large structure. It could start a fire, damage unprotected equipment, or even temporarily disable a port or airport.

Denmark's intelligence also warns of attacks. Danish intelligence services see increased danger of Russian attacks on the NATO state. There's a small but growing risk that Russia will carry out a limited military attack against one or more NATO countries on the Russian border. I have to say as a civilian, it's very concerning to read such an article.

Also at the same time, the German government has brought out this Chapter 2: Government survival guides, sum-planning ahead of crisis and disaster guide. It's basically a prepping guide coming from the Federal Office of Civil Protection. And if you dig into this brochure, you can see that further back, they will actually tell you how you can prevent injuries from explosions from air raids.

In explosions, shock waves, flying debris, and glass splinters pose a big danger. The same is true for air strikes. However, German houses are solidly built. Internal spaces without windows are therefore offering effective protection. So here they are giving you instructions that you should stay in the middle of the house or in your basement. And this is what they call the rule of two wars. And honestly, I have to say, I've never heard of this rule before...

What Disney CEO Josh D'Amaro did is just typical Disney trying to save its image. We all know that it's a big joke because the suspension is nothing more than a 10-day vacation.

Now, the main reason why Josh made this call that was a unanimous decision between the Disney board members is that there was just too much antagonism that Sunny was bringing onto the set days after she made that horrifying comment. And this has been done before many times by Josh. It was also done many times by Bob Iger. And I've said this once, but I'll say it again. These suspensions are a complete joke. They're absolutely pathetic. It is nothing more than a CEO propping up this facade that they are taking some level of responsibility or showing some level of accountability. And it's just not working at all.

And obviously, the way that Hal Jordan has been depicted has been a big problem for a lot of people. And quite frankly, what they've done to the origin story for John Stewart, a lot of John Stewart fans aren't happy about it.

And despite HBO Max and Warner Brothers and all the DCU shills, become guzzling [__] gobbling shills out there that will do everything to defend James Gunn.

They went out there and they told you that this is just a massive hit, a monumental smashing hit for streaming. Well, reality came crashing down when they were forced to realize that quite frankly. is just not the case. Because it took Lanterns four episodes before it actually charted on the Nielsen ratings. Right, when you look at the first week that it was available, nothing, nowhere, not to be found...

[...] So, that's with three episodes out. Didn't make it. And that would have been 480 million minutes watched. Finally, with four episodes available, it cracked in not to the top 10 of streaming, but to the top 10 of acquired streaming at 500 million minutes watched. That is nothing compared to what we see from HBO Max's actual hit shows. Something like White Lotus, which a lot of people here might not have even watched. That had like 1.6 billion minutes viewed before the season finale.

You know, this is not some smash hit. It's just quite frankly not. The numbers are actually far closer to the Acolyte. When you look at the Acolyte streaming numbers that we talked about years ago, that's around where Lanterns is sitting. Not exactly the smash hit that they were pretending that it was.

And now, you can tell that James Gunn is starting to feel the heat a little bit because he can't help but run his mouth on social media. He feels the desperate need to defend his honor on threads replying to absolute nobodies. James Gunn gets defensive and argues with DC fan over Hal Jordan's treatment in Lanterns.

And it's been a big thing, right? For Hal Jordan, who is the greatest Green Lantern of all time, a lot of people's favorite Green Lantern, certainly, for him to be portrayed the way he's portrayed in this is a problem. And people have compared it to the way Superman has been treated, right? The way that everybody looks at Superman in his own movie. They don't respect him. It is to the next level with Hal Jordan.

He is constantly treated like absolute dog [__] And I do think there's going to be a spin or a twist in episode 7 or 8 that maybe tries to change that a little bit for them, but ultimately it doesn't matter. This is the Luke Skywalker The Last Jedi treatment, where you tear this person down and you embarrass them and you shame them all in effort to prop up another character. North of here in the Owens Valley, there is said to be an eerie radio broadcast that can only be picked up in a small area. And to make things even stranger, the broadcast is coming from the ruins of an abandoned industrial plant. Well, today we're going to head up Highway 395 and investigate this for ourselves...

[...13:03 mark...] Okay, we are about eight miles away. First, let's tune this to 89.9 FM. All right, let's get the volume up here. I don't hear anything yet. Let's get a little bit closer, and we will try again.

Okay, we are about four miles away now, and there is a sound coming through the broadcast occasionally. Let's just listen for a second and see if we hear it again. It was really light right there, but sometimes it comes through really loud. ... Did you hear that? Sounds like a loud banging sound.

Now you can really hear it. It's starting to sound like a ghost or something now. It's getting really loud. I hope the camera mic is picking this up because this is a pretty weird radio broadcast. And in front of us right now are the ruins that this broadcast is coming from. And here we are. This was once the Bartlett railroad siding.

[...] Beginning in 2016, the studio's sonic division ... turned one of the abandoned silos on the site into a resonant chamber, where the sounds of the valley are amplified and broadcast. One of the first experiments was to treat the silo itself as an aeolian harp strung with wires along its surface. An aeolian harp is kind of a stringed instrument with no player. You stretch strings, you expose them to moving air, and the wind does the rest. And the faster the wind, the higher the pitch. But they took that idea and scaled it up to a multi-story steel silo in a valley that's known for brutal funneled wind.

So, the Pittsburgh Plate Glass Factory ruins have effectively been turned into a musical instrument played by the wind currents coming off the dry lake bed. Okay, we are about four miles away now, and there is a sound coming through the broadcast occasionally. Let's just listen for a second and see if we hear it again. It was really light right there, but sometimes it comes through really loud. ... Did you hear that? Sounds like a loud banging sound.

Now you can really hear it. It's starting to sound like a ghost or something now. It's getting really loud. I hope the camera mic is picking this up because this is a pretty weird radio broadcast. And in front of us right now are the ruins that this broadcast is coming from. And here we are. This was once the Bartlett railroad siding.

So, the Pittsburgh Plate Glass Factory ruins have effectively been turned into a musical instrument played by the wind currents coming off the dry lake bed. The booklet has the title of Planning Ahead for Crisis and Disasters. So now the Federal Office of Germany of Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance wants the German citizens to be prepared.

What a turnaround. Can you believe it? A couple of years ago, prepping was depicted as being right-wing lunacy, and there was no reason to prep. Here, for example, are some mainstream articles that told people not to prep because it's right-wing.

Here they're describing a "dangerous" scene: "Guns in town. Preppers are people who stockpile supplies and weapons, eagerly awaiting the day of reckoning."

But then later, you know, with the COVID pandemic and with other things happening like the war in Ukraine, there was a little bit of a shift. To maybe prepping is not too bad. Solidarity-based prepping. If there has to be an apocalypse, then let's do it together.

When people hear about the word "prepping," they immediately think of eccentric individuals in bunkers. But nobody considers that food banks have been supporting people in crisis for decades. So suddenly prepping is not that evil anymore.

[...] Also, now we have a new banking law. So with the new law, anybody that lives inside the European Union is not allowed to have a bank account in a foreign country. Only inside the European Union. So if you want to open up a bank account in the USA or Singapore, it's not possible even if you have a passport. They have made agreements with foreign banks that they cannot serve EU citizens if they live in the European Union.

This is brutal. The European Union is forcing banks outside of the EU to stop providing core banking services to EU residents unless those banks set up a licensed branch inside of the EU. What matters is the residence, not your passport...

I don't understand science fiction writers being afraid of AI. Especially, like, I mean, it's science fiction. It's the future.

We want the future. I want an Optimus robot in my house doing my laundry and my dishes and my yard work for me. I mean, my gosh, how cool would that be? I'm waiting for the day of that so that I don't have to clean my house anymore. That's great. And I hope they do have some good rules for that, what Mr. Asimov put together, the laws of robotics.

I'm a science fiction writer myself. And I don't fear the future. I embrace the future. I'm one of those who loves optimism. I love the sense of wonder that we used to get from science fiction.

But this latest crop of DEI writers are very dreary, pessimistic people. [...] They are experiencing angst because they realize AI can write better stories than them for the most part.

[...] What happens when you start believing your own BS? Now, I laughed at this immediately because I'm like, this is a dude who pretends to be a woman, and that makes everybody else call him she. What happens when you start believing your own BS? Pretty funny line in the blog.

[...] These individuals tried to ban me from publishing and the like. You don't know what slings and arrows are, Cameron. ... I think the only people afraid of AI are the people who aren't creative. And that's the situation here. These DEI people who ran science fiction for a long time are not creative. And that's why they tried to box everybody out, right?

They don't want other ideas. They don't want interesting things propagating out there. And the thing is with AI, I can really bounce all my ideas off these things and get 10x my output. I have so many more ideas than ever before because I'm so creatively full. And AI just helps me.

But it commenced with Captain Pike having a nightmare vision of his own future paralysis, and the show being rather dark and serious in other areas during the first season. And Pike still has that grim destiny waiting that the series will suddenly have to spin around 180 degrees for when it concludes next season. Yeah, if there were a total of 150 episodes instead of only 46, then occasional spoof episodes would also be okay or a delight (as in the older series). But as it is, they're contended to be virtually dominating the show.

VIDEO EXCERPTS: Since the release of the puppet episode on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, it feels as though there's been a degree of reevaluation of the show by some of its defenders. [...] generally speaking, there's no defending Strange New Worlds anymore in my opinion. The show's first season was okay, but it had problems.

The second season started the gimmick episodes including a musical and a crossover with Lower Decks, which was very self-aware. And from there on it just got worse. The show is now producing pastiches or homages to popular films from other genres. Be it the likes of Event Horizon, The Hangover, Dude, Where's My Car?, Casablanca, or The Muppets. It has seemingly lost its own sense of identity and certainly the writers don't appear to be even remotely attempting to draw inspiration from Star Trek.

[...] Now, I've discussed before how the writers seem to be heavily inspired and influenced by Joss Whedon shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel. And this would of course explain some of the dialogue on the show, which feels very Whedon-esque, you know, quippy dialogue. And of course, it would also explain the musical episode in season 2 and this season's puppet episode. Because of course, there had been a Buffy musical and there had been an episode where Angel was turned into a puppet.

[...] The utter absurdity of the episode along with the recent abysmal installments like the episode that was an homage to both The Hangover and Dude, Where's My Car? Or the Casablanca rip-off has sort of cast a new light on this series now.

Given that there's only 10 episodes per season and by the show's end, there will only be 46 episodes produced across five seasons, that will mean that the gimmick format breaker episodes really stand out. Perhaps more than any other episodes. They stand out when compared to the more serious episodes.

When you think of the more light-hearted episodes on The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, or Voyager, those episodes may be memorable. But they aren't the episodes that immediately spring to mind when you think of those shows. And I think this is a critical point. Those series did so many more episodes per season, and when you think of those series, you think of the episodes that really exemplified them. You think of the best sci-fi stories, the most thought-provoking or dramatic stories.

Now, you might fondly remember the more humorous, lighter ones, but they were merely a welcome departure from the average type of episode. They didn't define those series. However, Strange New Worlds is the opposite. It will be remembered primarily for the goofy, gimmicky, comedy parody episodes...
