Avoiding Gimbal Lock using Quaternions - confused2 - Jan 23, 2021

I'm not a mathematician and have spent countless hours with the internal workings of quaternions trying to make sense of them enough to actually use them - finally - I can use them. I don't know how widely read this thread will be but if anyone wants to ask HOW? I have the code to use them. It is a real pig but once set up it verges on the magical. Ask and it shall be given.

I've heard of the Advanced Flat Earth Society scientists recruiting quaternions to... Well, never mind.

The brilliant and amazingly generous Martin John Baker has created a wonderful website here:

It doesn't do the - How do I plug this into Opengl? which is where I might be able to help.

Lord Kelvin, 1892:
"Quaternions came from Hamilton after his really good work had been done; and, though beautifully ingenious, have been an unmixed evil to those who have touched them in any way, including Clerk Maxwell."
