Totally amazed when I see someone who can juggle, balance, pop a wheelie, or twirl things when I can’t. Although I was a pretty good athlete there is no way I could balance/spin a basketball on my fingertips or dipsy-doodle down the field with a soccer ball, two sports that I excelled at. The only thing I could do with great proficiency was score points or goals. People have told me I was one the worst players they ever saw that could put points on the board but that’s another story.

Why is it some people can do amazing hand/eye coordinated balancing feats when others can’t . Spinning a baton is impossible for me yet it comes easy for some. Not even going to get into those who can contort their bodies like pretzels. Big Grin

I think it's really down to aptitude.

If you attempt something and realise your close to achieving it, then with practice you will, however if you feel that you fail miserably at the first attempt the likelihood is that you won't stick at it long enough to practice until you can. Most things are achievable with practice, it's just keeping your attention on practising and not becoming disheartened by failure to the point of quitting outright.

One thing I got good at was keyboard skills (although they are starting to wane). Touch-typing, even with my eyes shut etc. It wasn't down to a magic third eye, or some mutant latent skill, it was literally down to writing walls of text on forums for three decades. Muscle memory takes over when you get to a certain point, and to be honest I would gather that part of my brain has adapted to communicate through my fingertips although sometimes there are quirks where letters are missed out or punctuation . fails Smile
