Quentin Tarantino's "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" is expected to take home a few prizes at this year's Academy Awards, and critics praised Joaquin Phoenix's performance in "The Joker."

Need to see the "Irishman" eventually just to evaluate how convincing that digital de-aging of Robert De Niro is throughout the film. At least he's still alive and playing himself rather than being a deep-fake, reanimated dead actor. They'll surely do the latter with John Wayne and Marilyn Monroe someday (among many others) for an entire movie. Welcome back, James Dean -- time to amend that abbreviated career as a cultural icon in some predictable, non-risky or SJW cheesy, conforming to the establishment and "catering to a world audience" pop-market Disney production.

Spoiler alert warranted here? I don't know, it seems like it would take some inferential effort for specifics to be derived from my comments here, or else hard to believe by now that the public at large hasn't heard (OTOH, I was one of those still in the dark.) Anyway, I'll put them in a spoiler button just to be on the safe side.

Really didn't read or sample much about "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" beforehand (one of those tagalong things cuz hubby wanted to see the big, bad Quentin Tarantino film). So I wasn't expecting it to have something in common with the premise of "The Man in the High Castle" TV series.

Also, I initially felt the "Once upon a time..." label was purely playing off a certain Spaghetti Western title from Sergio Leone days. (Since right out of the gate, the declining career of character Rick Dalton seemed to be on a collision course with a stint overseas being part of Italian productions like that.) But in retrospect, obviously it did venture into fairy-tale territory of a sort, too.
