36 upcoming films to look out for - Magical Realist - Aug 17, 2019 https://www.businessinsider.com/fall-movie-preview-it-chapter-2-joker-frozen-2-strong-2019-8?utm_content=buffer0a160&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook.com&utm_campaign=buffer-art&fbclid=IwAR3f6VPMkselW54oi8VpN5bJcDW-Z_c_fGlLkeJ1X3u2gjY0--gPCcaroP4 "The fall movie season is around the corner, meaning an increase in releases at the multiplex that are more dramatic as studios and distributors try to build up award-season buzz. That said, there will still be plenty of must-see releases like "It: Chapter Two," the Will Smith action movie "Gemini Man," and end-of-the year titles like "Frozen 2" and "Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker." These are all things the industry is happy to see. Hollywood is hoping for a strong second half at the box office to close out 2019, since the summer movie season didn't pack as big a punch as 2018. From "Joker" and "The Irishman," to "Jumanji: The Next Level" and "Cats," here are 36 movies that will be worth your time coming out in the fall and beyond:" RE: 36 upcoming films to look out for - C C - Aug 17, 2019 Might be a modest chance of something quasi-original amongst the originals, but I don't care anything about the umpteenth reboots and sequels or "next chapter in _X_ franchise". That stuff can wait to be indirectly heard on television in the background, when somebody else happens to be watching "Jumanji:the Next Level" or "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” or "Charlie's Angels". Sheesh. RE: 36 upcoming films to look out for - Magical Realist - Aug 18, 2019 I hate endless franchises too. I've also grown tired of superhero movies. Alot of fighting and explosions but not much of a plot. I'm in the mood for really quirky indie films like Being John Malkovitch or The Lobster. Films that push the envelope on what can be written and made into a movie. May have to wait till winter though as the fall pickings look pretty slim for that genre. RE: 36 upcoming films to look out for - Yazata - Aug 25, 2019 Ad Astra may or may not be interesting. It's hard science fiction and doesn't seem to be a remake of anything or to be based on a comic book. Apparently it's coming out this week at the Venice film festival and will open in US theaters in September. RE: 36 upcoming films to look out for - Secular Sanity - Aug 26, 2019 "Gemini Man" looks pretty good. I watched "The Lobster," and afterwards, I thought…WTF? Is everyone in the movie industry doing drugs or something? I had to do a little research to understand it and it does show how much pressure society puts on you to get married. Quote:So in real life we don’t have to have a defining characteristic. No one is going to turn is into an animal if we’re single. RE: 36 upcoming films to look out for - Yazata - Aug 28, 2019 Joker looks like it's going to be a horror movie without the supernatural, a comic-book movie without any special effects, an entirely psychological horror movie. (The exceedingly dark Batman material lends itself to that kind of treatment.) I think that I might want to go see this one.
