On Thursday, he became the ninth candidate to reach the thresholds needed to qualify for the third and four rounds of Democratic presidential primary debates, which will be held next month and in October.
One of the reasons for the first-time candidate’s newfound popularity is his so-called "Freedom Dividend," which would pay each adult American $1,000 a month and would be paid for by a national value-added tax. Yang also reacted to the latest verbal gaffe by former Vice President Joe Biden [...] Biden ... said “poor kids are just as bright and talented as white kids” before quickly adding “wealthy kids, black kids, Asian kids.” The gaffe quickly grabbed plenty of attention on social media. Yang told Fox News, “I think that’s Joe Biden being Joe Biden."...
Yang also weighed in on the controversial tweet by Rep. Joaquin Castro of Texas ...brother of... Democratic presidential candidate Julian Castro ... In his tweet -- which only included publicly available donor information – Castro said: “Sad to see so many San Antonians as 2019 maximum donors to Donald Trump…Their contributions are fueling a campaign of hate that labels Hispanic immigrants as ‘invaders.’” The post quickly drew swift backlash, mainly from conservatives, who emphasized that the congressman was targeting private citizens for political purposes. Castro is the chairman of his brother’s presidential campaign. [...] Asked about the Castro controversy, Yang told Fox News “its bad practice to air publicly available information for political purposes.”
Yang, who last month reached the fundraising criteria of 130,000 contributions from individual donors, on Thursday hit two percent a fourth poll recognized by the Democratic National Committee. EXCERPT: . . . Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang can count Tesla CEO Elon Musk among his supporters after Musk offered a simple message of support via Twitter on Saturday.
Earlier in the day Yang tweeted a message about trying different approaches to problem solving and remaining open-minded. "I don't expect people to agree with me on everything- that would be odd," Yang wrote on Twitter. ""My main hope is that people trust that I'm trying to solve problems and I'm open to different approaches - particularly if the data drives in a particular direction. Changing one's mind is not a bad thing."
Yang's message was shared by a Twitter user named Dan Carlin, or @HardcoreHistory, prompting a response from Musk later in the afternoon. "I support Yang," Musk tweeted. "He would our first openly goth president [sic]. I think this is very important," he said in a second tweet.
Musk calling Yang a goth is a call back to an April interview with Jezebel where Yang claimed he was once a member of the counter-culture. However, Musk's support of Yang doesn't end with his sense of style.
The Tesla CEO also agrees with Yang's stance that Americans will eventually need a universal basic income. As president Yang hopes to launch what he calls a Freedom Dividend that would provide $1,000 a month to every American. The program would be funded by taxes on businesses that rely on innovation. Tesla relies heavily on automation in its manufacturing process, though Musk has previously admitted to pushing the company towards automation too quickly. (MORE - details)

VAT tax is disproportionately paid by the poor, as they spend more of their income while the rich can afford to save more of theirs.
The Dems have finally moved on to blatantly offering cash for votes, and their idiot voters might actually fall for it.
