Indian Lunar Lander - Yazata - Jul 5, 2019

India is planning to launch a lunar mission called Chandrayaan 2 on July 15. The plan is to land a lunar lander near the Moon's south pole that will release a rover. The hoped for lunar landing should come September 9.

as they watch the super powers try and cut up international waters into oil & gas fields, they know it pays not to be last to stake your claim on resources.
in-spite of them being not advanced enough to give electricity to more than 50% of their citizens.
all that will mean nothing as they die off and run out of food & materials.

that leap to freedom appears to be demonstrated as requiring the piling of innocent dead civilian lives to afford it.
private industry are not being made to pay that cost as yet.
yet they are reaping the profits.

socialist society's are better suited to handle the sacrifice of civilians in exchange for long term energy security.

Hopefully it won't go the way of that deliberate impactor of theirs over a decade ago. Or the Israeli Moon lander which became an unintended impactor.

& to think the Apollo moon lander astronauts had only 1 launcher rocket
that's "flying by the seat of your pants" for sure

who will be the 1st to land a replicator builder droid on the moon that goes around collecting all the landers and turning them into a big super rover.

They will be livestreaming the launch. Not clear when it's scheduled for, either Sunday afternoon in the US, or early Monday morning. (Each of the two youtube channels below shows a different time for it.) I'll just have to check in periodically on the web streams below.

Launch today seems to have been scrubbed. Nothing official from ISRO yet. No word on why they are standing down. Presumably something wasn't right in the preflight checks. No word on a new launch date. That probably depends on the nature of the fault and on how easy it is to fix.

A source at Canberra Deep Space Tracking in Australia which is cooperating with ISRO verifies that the Deep Space Tracking Network has been told the launch is cancelled for today and that the tracking stations can stand down.

Just to update, another attempt to launch the Chandrayaan-2 moon mission will be at 5:13 a.m. EDT (0913 GMT) on Monday. The local time at liftoff will be 2:43 p.m. Indian Standard Time.

Which translates to 2:13 AM PDT. Nope, sorry India, I doubt whether I'm going to stay up to watch. (I would kind of like to see it though. Indian launches are unusual.)

I'll definitely be paying attention when the time comes for it to land on the Moon. I still remember the anxious excitement watching that ill-fated Israeli lander.
