Volcanic Eruption seen from Space - Yazata - Jun 26, 2019

This is pretty cool. It's a view from the Space Station of a volcanic eruption in Russia's Kurile islands, north of Japan. (NASA photo)

You can see how the plume of volcanic ash is being propelled much higher than the surrounding low clouds.

Clearly mushroom clouds were known long before the 20th century. The Tsar Bomb would pale in contrast to a supervolcano eruption, the latter by itself potentially triggering a prolonged global winter event.
