Volcanic Eruption seen from Space - Yazata - Jun 26, 2019 This is pretty cool. It's a view from the Space Station of a volcanic eruption in Russia's Kurile islands, north of Japan. (NASA photo) https://www.earthobservatory.nasa.gov/images/145226/raikoke-erupts You can see how the plume of volcanic ash is being propelled much higher than the surrounding low clouds. Here's a short video of the eruption taken from a NOAA weather satellite in the Western Pacific that gives an idea of how energetic this thing is https://twitter.com/NOAASatellites/status/1143579610204033026 RE: Volcanic Eruption seen from Space - C C - Jun 27, 2019 Clearly mushroom clouds were known long before the 20th century. The Tsar Bomb would pale in contrast to a supervolcano eruption, the latter by itself potentially triggering a prolonged global winter event. |
