EXCERPT: . . . Leonard Cheshire calls for more support for victims of online disability hate crime across the UK and for technology giants to do more to help. CEO Neil Heslop said: “Police are increasingly recording online offences, but we know it remains an under-reported area and that disabled people may have reservations about speaking out. “We suspect many crimes remain under the radar, with survivors never getting support and perpetrators facing no consequences,” said Neil Heslop [...]

Janine Howard, who experienced online disability hate crime and was supported by Leonard Cheshire’s hate crime advocacy services said: “People I don’t know take my photograph when I am out and about, they post it on social media for others to comment on.”

“The comments are nasty, hurtful and leave me feeling frightened and angry. There is no escaping this online abuse if I want to use social media. It’s horrible to know that my family might see this abuse online.”

“These offences can have a devastating impact on the lives of survivors. We know from our work with disabled people that hate crime causes long-term fear, anxiety and, in some cases, isolation,” added Mr Heslop. (MORE - details)

Kylie Jenner slammed for throwing a 'Handmaid's Tale' themed party (US online community)
https://www.usatoday.com/story/life/people/2019/06/09/kylie-jenner-slammed-throwing-handmaids-tale-birthday-party/1401940001/

EXCERPT: Kylie Jenner surely knows how to throw an elaborate party, but her latest theme may have landed her in some hot water with fans. The makeup mogul brought the totalitarian regime Gilead to California with a "Handmaid's Tale" themed birthday party for her best friend Anastasia Karanikolaou. [...] Jenner's Instagram Story shows herself referring to a male guest as Commander and adding "Of" in front of a female guest's name, a practice used in the popular dystopian series to show who owns each handmaid. "Welcome to Gilead," Jenner quipped in a social media video.

Fans slammed the 21-year-old billionaire for turning a show that depicts rape and oppression into a laughing matter, describing the party as "tone deaf" and "disturbing." "Kylie Jenner throwing her friend a Handmaid’s Tale themed birthday party complete with robes, Gilead flags … is so tone deaf, at any time, but especially when women’s rights and autonomy are particularly under attack. Disheartening," @anamgom tweeted. (MORE)

Liberals are furious at Kylie Jenner because she's not taking a fictional online show seriously enough
https://www.theblaze.com/news/kylie-jenner-has-politically-incorrect-party

EXCERPT: Many liberals expressed their outrage and disbelief after celebrity Kylie Jenner posted video of a birthday party themed after an online show that is widely seen as anti-conservative. "The Handmaid's Tale" has been cited by many on the left as a way of criticizing pro-life and other social policies. They were just as critical of Jenner for her party that featured many items patterned after the show, including a costume that many liberals used at anti-Trump protests.

"I f**king hate Kylie Jenner," responded writer Ally Maynard. "She turned her mansion into Gilead from The Handmaid's Tale for her daughter's first birthday. She thinks it's funny. I want to scream. Eat the rich." Activist Jess Phoenix accused Jenner of making the show into a joke. (MORE)
