RE: ‘I Am Mother’ released on Netflix June 7 - Yazata - May 10, 2019

I don't have Netflix, so I'll never see it.

But from the trailer, it looks like the story takes place post-"singularity" and the robots like Mother are what were responsible for the near extinction of the human race.

So a survivor stumbles in from outside and tells Daughter what happened out there, and suddenly benevolent Mother doesn't seem all that benevolent any more.

Did you watch it, C C?

I just finished it. I thought it was great. Probably one of the best science fiction movies that I've seen in a really long time.

Thanks!

Just finished watching. Which is to say, glad you mentioned it. I reminded myself a couple of weeks ago that June 7 was rolling around and still forgot. Refreshing to see a Terminator-like setting with some substance, or minus the testosterone "slay-ride" for the boys of a heavy body count and guns blazing away 24/7.

After seeing French actress Eva Green play an English character in "Penny Dreadful" (the TV series) a few years back, I don't know why I'm amazed that Clara Rugaard is Danish (in the citizenship context). Have to agree with the NY Post that this movie may have set the stage for a new, emerging star. These reviewers saw a "still in progress" cut months earlier, and the film still scored above average.

For Yazata: It should eventually start streaming at Hulu and Amazon's Prime Video (like Netflix's "Annihilation" supposedly already is), so maybe cable-land will be part of its afterlife down the road, too. (Not sure how that works.)

Watched it... It was a good flick... takes eugenics to the inth degree... ( wont say much more as I don't want to spoil it for new viewers)
Raises some very intersting psychological and ethical issues IMO. and a great journey as well...

Pretty much nails it.
