Hey Europe: Don't Say We Don't Give You Nothing - Yazata - Oct 13, 2018

Here's Hurricane/post-tropical cyclone Leslie, spawned in the western Atlantic, due to hit Portugal this evening. Winds shouldn't exceed 75 mph (which is still pretty strong). It will still be the strongest storm in Portugal since the 1840's. It might bring lots of rain and flash-flooding. It will continue into Spain and quickly dissipate. The US National Hurricane Center projects that most of Portugal has a high probability of experiencing tropical storm force winds. This thing has been wandering erratically around the north Atlantic for a month, at times a weak category 1 hurricane, at other times a strong tropical storm. And now it's headed for landfall.

History wise, I guess that recent Ophelia (extratropical stage) and '61 Debbie stuff (not continental enough) didn't count. Only Hurricane Vince. Leslie won't either if it doesn't get its groove on.
