Optimistic nihilism - Magical Realist - Aug 24, 2018 Sounds good to me. Just bear in mind how little we actually know for sure.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBRqu0YOH14 RE: Optimistic nihilism - Ostronomos - Aug 24, 2018 Is this one of your attempts to lend credence to atheism? RE: Optimistic nihilism - Magical Realist - Aug 24, 2018 Atheism is a given for me. I don't have to lend it credence. RE: Optimistic nihilism - Ostronomos - Aug 24, 2018 Then you lack knowledge of God's existence in my estimation. RE: Optimistic nihilism - Leigha - Jan 17, 2019 I think an atheist can still find meaning and purpose in life. So is this optimistic nihilism basically ''enjoy the purposelessness while it lasts?'' ![]() RE: Optimistic nihilism - Secular Sanity - Jan 17, 2019 (Jan 17, 2019 05:37 AM)Leigha Wrote: I think an atheist can still find meaning and purpose in life. So is this optimistic nihilism basically ''enjoy the purposelessness while it lasts?'' Yeah, I think so. Bravo, little Missy! You might be able to open a lemonade stand with that one. If you’re going to be written out of the book of life, you might as well enjoy the story, right? Keep in mind, though, when you’re writing your own, a good story doesn’t have to be complex to be interesting. Complex and overused phrases lose their storytelling power. I met a woman once, who had lost her son to suicide. She was showing me her collection of vintage lunchboxes. She picked one up and she said, "Oh, look! This is one of my favorites. I was fabulous then." That simple statement has stayed with me for years. We like to think that we’re rational beings but we’re really storytellers. May yours be fabulous.
