Do you understand the difference between Abstract Truth and Absolute Truth?

Abstract truth is what people of a religion have when they believe what they have been told. They don't necessarily look for evidence to support that truth, they don't necessarily question that truth, they just "Believe".

Absolute Truth in some sense is something that Science quests for. Science requires proof to prove truth, this is why certain values/results are seen "Empirical" in Science.

I mention this because in the website linked by the OP, there is the statement "Jesus knew this..." The problem is that no one alive "Absolutely" knew/knows Jesus*, there are however people of a religious faith that "Believe they (abstractly) know Jesus."

*There isn't actually any real evidence suggesting there ever was a real person, in fact most of the religious texts that people refer to as proof seem to be dated after Emperor Constantine's rule. (When Christianity was allowed to propagate their beliefs) as before that time any written articles would have likely been destroyed.

Stryder, you do realize that it’s a site mocking crackpots, don’t you?

Nope didn't notice.

My sentiments in the previous post are still the same though, although the context might be different lol.

George Hammond knew all about the existence of gods, the Goa'uld in particular. (Parasitic gods!)

(This is your God! Kneel before it and let it enter you!)

Protecting Earth from the gods was General Hammond's job. He was the Commander of the Stargate project. He was always sending his SG-1 team through the matter-transmitter portal to battle the alien gods. Sometimes the humans allied with more benevolent alien gods such as the Asgard to battle the malevolent ones. (Just as in ancient times, different races of gods were fighting wars in the heavens.) Daniel Jackson, the project's scientist/linguist/geek, eventually even died and became an Ascended Being.

(I loved that old TV series, a great mixture of hard sci-fi space-opera, alternative 'ancient astronauts' history and speculative theology.)

speaking of facts & truths...
from my very casual reading it appears to suggest the bible had around 7 different original versions which were all melded together over time as they were re-written meanwhile they were translated from one language to another 15 times.

science must prove what religion expects the right to not have to...

You’re not suggesting that George Edwin Hammond is a spoof, are you?

I think that my George Hammond was just as knowledgeable about the existence of the gods as Ostronomos' George Hammond.

How can anyone deny the gods?

The way it seems to be is that one verbally conducted religion (story tellers in market places similar to how the Iliad was spread through travellers from distant lands) were eventually documented. The stories they told however during their initial capture would have been embellished to suit the province/country in which they were telling the story in. (It's much like how the Manuel, the Spanish Waiter in Fawlty Towers was dubbed as a Portuguese Waiter when shown in Spain) Political sensitivity, local folk lore (which would of been assimilated) and even the language they spoke due to it's syntax all would of played a role in how those stories translated.

Those stories of course existed for hundreds (if not thousands) of years before Christianity (much of them make up the old testament, you only have to look at passages that end in "Amen", which I would assume would be adaptions of statements made in Amon's [pre 2,100 BC] court (As well as the "God of Kings" relationship due to cultural polymorphism where his memory become an iconage as Amon-Ra), other stories are stolen from Solomons Court [pre 931 BC].)

Basically any land that had a court where kings ruled and made decision on dealing with day to day life became wide spread knowledge as those acts or metaphor's spread morality, they just weren't all from the same roots or trunk initially, that's where the stories being handed down over generations would eventually put them all together with no writer or initiator to take written credit.

The new testament however I think is more of a hodge podge of political dissidence seeded by Roman's initial dislike of "Uncultured pagan" religions and then the eventual overturn and re-write of that perception through Constantine's eventual legislative change and groundwork for a state-wide religion. (After all Pontius Pilate [pre 39 AD] is stated in their book to wash his hands of an awkward situation, if Rome at that time had a deeply seated control over what context and what is written, they would hardly portray a law bearer as evil or doing harm especially if it depicted Rome in the wrong light, that's why it's left to the "Angry Mob" to majority rule their way to the decision of death over the fictional character.)

What concludes the fiction of character is the nature of the timelines used to manifest the stories told, and how nobody would actually live that long.

That's some of my take on the subject itself.
