What a mess casual photography will also turn into when mediated reality becomes more phenomenally authentic, and is AI-processed to integrate / blend-in seamlessly with exteroceptive information. Fewer historically accurate images, records of a past contaminated with cyber-hallucinations.
As the human modification trends of transhumanism kick-in, even the experience of reality in the head will be bathed in the psychotic disorders world. No longer a private haunt for one but inter-subjectively shared among the multitude. Grendel won't just be seen "out there" by the public, but eventually felt and its stench smelt. Like the lens wearers in Jack Vance's Eyes of the Overworld, there might be cults living in hillbilly shacks in the "actual world", but appearance-wise dwelling in the opulent palaces of their enhanced reality.
