Why I now ignore politics and don't vote - Magical Realist - Nov 4, 2026

A girl came by my apt yesterday asking me if I voted. I said no and that one person doesn't make any difference. Sometimes abstaining from politics is itself a political statement. Until the system changes itself in some way that it starts offering more self-aware candidates instead of the usual panderers to whatever political issue is most popular at the moment, I will simply not play along with this game. The whole notion of politics may be be inherently fallacious. That a real person could ever be elected without assuming the role of just an obsequious fixer of whatever polarizing hype the masses are jacked up about at the moment. Govt officials should be hired based on their qualifications just like everybody else, not voted into office by a meaningless position-taking and emotionally-swayed populace. Better yet, the way they decided male mates on planet Vulcan! lol
