When the Bible invented misogyny... - Magical Realist - Nov 4, 2026

Ever notice how in Genesis God brought all the animals before Adam first to find him a companion and only when that failed did he create woman for him? Isn't that a bit like being the last chosen by the volleyball team captains? And then we all know what happened after that. It's like right out the gate with that first story the Bible literally invented misogyny for all generations thereafter. Let's hear it for the Patriarchy!

Patriarchy exists because men are stronger than women. There's nothing misogynist about that brute fact. There is very often a lot more misandrist dyspepsia over that fact... which results in unfounded accusations of misogyny.

Apparently not only from female misandrists. 9_9

Uh no. Men being stronger has nothing to do with oppressing and abusing and hating women. Men are stronger than children but they don't bully and oppress and hate them. It's all about being a shitbag too insecure about yourself to treat women with respect and dignity. Like you and the writers of the Bible.

Patriarchy doesn't mean "oppressing and abusing and raping women." It's not a synonym for misogyny.

Patriarchy is the fact that women cannot secure or defend their own lives or rights, in a world where bad men exist, without good men.

"Patriarchy and modern misogyny are deeply connected. Patriarchy is the historical system that gives men more power and privilege. In politics, the economy, and culture. Misogyny is the hostile enforcement of that system. It punishes women who question male dominance or break “traditional” roles. Misogyny today appears in many formats. Like online abuse, workplace bias or violence. Or cultural stories that belittle and silence women. Modern misogyny keeps patriarchy in place by creating fear and shame for women who want to break existing norms. It places barriers on those pushing for equality."--- https://plan-uk.org/our-work/girls-rights/what-is-the-patriarchy

Yeah, quoting some leftist screed isn't going to fly... except to confirm your own bias.

Patriarchy doesn't "give men power." Men already have the power, as a brute fact of nature. (Maybe you're not aware of that.) You can call that "privilege" all you like, but brute facts are immune to shaming language. There is no enforcement of any naturally occurring system. It just is what it is.

Yeah..your typical genetic fallacy doesn't fly either. If you can't argue against it, then just admit it.

Quote:Patriarchy doesn't "give men power." Men already have the power, as a brute fact of nature.

Sure does..and has been doing so for thousands of years. Men being put into power to the total exclusion of women. Priests, popes, kings, judges, lawyers, law enforcement, business owners, military officers, bankers, traders, scholars, etc and etc. Over and over for thousands of years. The patriarchy empowers men so they can rule over women. There is no other reason for it to exist.

Men aren't "put into power" in order to exclude women. When they are freely promoted, it is due to their competence and strength. Throughout history, men have naturally excelled at the kinds of competence and strength people, including women, look for in leaders. Even today, women will openly say that they want a tall, strong man, often with the competency to make good money.

But I'll play along. How would women empower women to rule? How would they exercise authority without men?
