Wigner and the illusion of one objective shared reality - Magical Realist - Oct 26, 2026 Gets the nitty gritty of Wigner's extraordinary thought experiment and how it has since then been established thru experiments. Yes..at least the quantum level, we must dispense with this fantasy of one absolute reality we all live in! In other words, reality isn't objective. It's entirely subjective. It's not a place. It's a state of mind. https://www.facebook.com/reel/1846516486542803 RE: Wigner and the illusion of one objective shared reality - Syne - Oct 26, 2026 Wigner and his friend will always end up with the same result. So there's really no reality-splitting paradox. In practice, you cannot place a human and their whole lab into a quantum superposition, because they are classical, macroscopic objects. Eggheads calling quantum bits a "friend" (observer) is not an actual analog to the definitive, irreversible macroscopic reality of a human observer. Under objective or consciousness wave collapse interpretations of QM, there is no paradox at all. RE: Wigner and the illusion of one objective shared reality - Magical Realist - Oct 26, 2026 "Physicists have successfully created and measured quantum behavior in large-scale systems by tightly isolating them from thermal and environmental noise: • Superconducting Circuits: Superconducting quantum interference devices (SQUIDs) can be placed in a superposition of counter-circulating electrical currents. • Mechanical Resonators: Tiny crystals and mechanical drums (such as sapphire crystals containing quadrillions of atoms) have been placed into quantum ground-state superpositions. • Macroscopic Phenomena: Standard examples of macroscopic quantum phenomena include superconductivity, superfluidity, and Bose-Einstein condensates, as outlined by Wikipedia." There is ultimately no distinction between the quantum level and the classic world. Observation occurs thru the interaction of a quantum level photon of light and a macro level eyeball and brain. The physical world itself is a macro level event occurring to a quantum level consciousness. RE: Wigner and the illusion of one objective shared reality - Syne - Oct 26, 2026 Replicating quantum behavior in more macroscopic objects is a far cry from humans and whole labs being in a superposition... which is only theoretical. But, no doubt, you'll believe whatever you want to. |
