The practice of everyday ontology - Magical Realist - Oct 26, 2026 I think we are all tired and fed up with this exhausting cognitive dissonance of being a meaning-feeling experient in a world of meaningless and feelingless things. The relentless hyperobjectification of everything thru science and technology and ideology and consumerism and meaningless rhetoric. A lot of mental illness and suffering probably comes out of this. I know the more general existential angst of our time comes from it. We feel trapped between the two unbearable options of believing we are an alienated ghost in a world of stuff and just another automaton in a world of machines. All hope for escape lies in the poetic experience of speaking and writing and epiphanous observing on a daily basis. No longer living the split, we will find ourselves opened up to what is real and needful again. A new Zen spirituality of actively and tacitly living the resolution of this impossibly rationally resolvable paradox in our ontic state of being. There is no real consciousness in itself nor any real physicality in itself. There is only the ongoing artful evocation of beingness thru the inspired and creative presencing of nascent possibility. Everything must become self-aware and performative. Perception of the world. Introspection. Intuition. Thinking. Action. Writing. Speaking. Moral judgement. Relating to others. Art. Traveling. A resolute taking hold of ourselves as the instantiating agent/knower behind everything that arises in our lives. "When I speak of poetry I am not thinking of it as a genre. Poetry is an awareness of the world, a particular way of relating to reality. So poetry becomes a philosophy to guide a man throughout his life." ~ Andrei Tarkovsky “When power corrupts, poetry cleanses."---JFK |
