VIDEO EXCERPT: There are warnings of attacks on Europe, and here they are saying that warnings of Russian attacks on European states are growing louder. According to US intelligence, Mediterranean countries like Italy, France, and Spain could soon be targeted by drones. Denmark in turn has warned that one or more NATO countries bordering Russia could be attacked. The Spanish daily newspaper El Mundo, citing a US intelligence source, reported on Thursday about the Kremlin's plans for a possible escalation.

A source close to the Lithuanian Ministry of Defense also stated they will use drones launched from the sea and concealed in containers. This is not difficult at all. Drone attacks on Spain, France, and Italy. According to the report, Lithuanian authorities know the type of drone Russia could use against Spain, France, or Italy. It's said that the type of drone used is a Gábor drone, which is 2 m long and has a wingspan of 2.5 m and weighs up to 18 kg with a speed of 160 km per hour and a reach of 600 kilometers.

Wow. It's amazing that they already can tell what drone will be involved in future attacks. Potentially using merchant ships as bases for drone attacks. A merchant ship could be used for transporting several of these drones. From a distance of 200 to 300 km off the coast, the flight would take about an hour and 15 minutes to two hours, depending on the speed, and they could carry an explosive charge of 4 to 5 kg, which would destroy a large structure. It could start a fire, damage unprotected equipment, or even temporarily disable a port or airport.

Denmark's intelligence also warns of attacks. Danish intelligence services see increased danger of Russian attacks on the NATO state. There's a small but growing risk that Russia will carry out a limited military attack against one or more NATO countries on the Russian border. I have to say as a civilian, it's very concerning to read such an article.

Also at the same time, the German government has brought out this Chapter 2: Government survival guides, sum-planning ahead of crisis and disaster guide. It's basically a prepping guide coming from the Federal Office of Civil Protection. And if you dig into this brochure, you can see that further back, they will actually tell you how you can prevent injuries from explosions from air raids.

In explosions, shock waves, flying debris, and glass splinters pose a big danger. The same is true for air strikes. However, German houses are solidly built. Internal spaces without windows are therefore offering effective protection. So here they are giving you instructions that you should stay in the middle of the house or in your basement. And this is what they call the rule of two wars. And honestly, I have to say, I've never heard of this rule before...

Apparently the "US intelligence source" is the CIA. That immediately makes me think it's an op. What better way to motivate Europe to take its own defense more seriously and send a message to Russia?

It makes no sense from any strategic standpoint for Russia to escalate hostilities with NATO while still struggling with relatively tiny Ukraine.

Analysis: Russia threatens to strike defense plants in NATO countries
https://www.kyivpost.com/analysis/85924

EXCERPT: Previously, similar statements from Russia mostly concerned targets inside Ukraine or transport convoys within Ukraine. Now, for the first time, Russia is officially and directly threatening defense plants on the territory of NATO and EU countries, which represents a step toward further escalation.

At the official diplomatic level of the Foreign Ministry, the Kremlin is effectively legitimizing potential Russian strikes against targets in sovereign NATO nations. In response, EU Defense Commissioner Andrius Kubilius stated that if Russia strikes factories on European territory, it would fall under NATO’s Article 5 on collective defense and trigger a military response. Certainly Russia would maintain plausible deniability, if they were to strike EU/NATO countries who are fighting a proxy war through Ukraine. But they would have to launch non-Russian drones (likely Chinese) from civilian/commercial ships. If so, it would be difficult to trigger NATO commitments.

But if they're making threats, it's likely just saber-rattling. That would serve the purposes of any CIA op, as it could both scare the EU and expose the bluster of Russia. Technically, the CIA or some other country could use it as cover for their own deniable drone attacks on Europe. But I don't see the CIA wanting to directly incriminate Russia, due to NATO repercussions.

Should it be taken as a sign Russia is losing its war with Ukraine?

They seem to be taking casualties while not making much, if any, territorial progress. While Russia had already been targeting infrastructure, they seem to have intensified those strikes. Still seems to be a war of attrition, where Russia is still more likely to weather Ukraine strikes than vice versa.

I really think it would take a large infusion of EU troops and weapons (maybe under the pretense of peacekeeping forces) to make Putin rethink his strategy.
