VIDEO EXCERPTS: Andrew Garfield didn't exactly cover himself in glory with his two Spider-Man movies. But he had an idea that was going to make it even better, and sadly he was never allowed to bring it to fruition.

Apparently ... Andrew Garfield revealed that he pushed for Peter Parker to explore his sexuality, and he wanted Michael B. Jordan to play his male MJ. Quote: "What if MJ is a dude?" Well, you know, we kind of got that now.

Why can't he be gay? Why can't he be into boys? Garfield even pitched the potential romance as interracial bisexuality. I mean, what we could have had, Andrew, it's such a shame that you didn't get to see your vision come to life.

[...] I just don't know what he was thinking with this. One pitching it at the time, and two, admitting it years later. Because realistically, who was going to be excited to see that?

[....] It's never, Oh, I've got this good idea for a really cool story about a gay character. It's always, but what if [existing character] was gay?

And these days, I wouldn't even trust these claims anymore. It's just a virtue signal. He's just letting everyone else know that he's willing to play ball.

Like he did that JK Rowling thing where they were talking about Harry Potter, and he went, "Well, you know, every wizard should be trans." And he called her "she who should not be named." And it's like you're just fishing around and hoping someone will hire you.

[...] He's had some accusations leveled at him or something like that, and he has to fight back against it by coming on as one of the good boys. Again, just saying all the correct things. Where, it's look at how progressive I am. Look at all the correct things that I'm spouting. Just praise me and then hire me for things.

Anything for a role. And I mean anything. On all fours, barking on his knees, anything.

The thing is as well, like he can say this now, but he doesn't even have to back it up. Like there's no need to prove that he actually proposed any of these things back in the day. He can come out years later and say, "Oh, yeah. I pushed for all this super progressive stuff, but those mean studio executives, they just wouldn't let me do it."

Wow, Andrew Garfield knew what the "modern audience" would want before it was even conceived of.

Well duh..maybe like ME and 10% of the human race?

Oh wait..it's the Drunk Critic again. We don't count.

Getting only 10% of the potential audience would be a huge failure for any big budget movie. Maybe you should offer to help crowd source a gay Spider-Man.

10% of the human race moron, not 10% of the viewing audience. That's roughly 800 million people

Again for the dumbass in the room..It has nothing to do with the viewing audience, potential or otherwise. It is a percentage of the whole human race If there was a gay Spiderman movie, I guarantee you 90% of the audience would be LGBT..

As opposed to a potential audience of the other 7.5 billion. Movies are a commercial, profit-driven business.
