And so THIS is why we still need DEI... - Magical Realist - Oct 6, 2025 The racism is STILL real and obstinate and oppressive... "DEI stands for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, an organizational framework that promotes the fair treatment and full participation of all people, especially those historically underrepresented or discriminated against. Diversity focuses on the presence of human differences, equity involves providing tailored resources for people to reach equal outcomes, and inclusion ensures that diverse individuals feel welcomed, supported, and valued within a group or institution." https://www.facebook.com/reel/773667188613091 RE: And so THIS is why we still need DEI... - Syne - Oct 6, 2025 Trump wasn't talking about all urban children.
Casting doubt on rehabilitation: In the same conversation, Trump expressed doubt that the people involved in these crimes could ever be rehabilitated, stating, "They're not going to be good. In 10 years, in 20 years, in two years, they're going to be criminals. They were born to be criminals, frankly". RE: And so THIS is why we still need DEI... - Magical Realist - Oct 6, 2025 "Urban" is dog whistle for "black". Everybody knows who we was talking about. "The term "urban" is often used as a dog whistle for Black people, particularly in political and media contexts, due to its history as a racialized code. A "dog whistle" is a coded message that appears innocuous to the general public but carries a specific, often controversial or bigoted, meaning for a targeted audience." "Trump described the people he called "born criminals" as "tough and mean" and said, "they'll cut your throat and they won't even think about it the next day". Criticism and reactions The "born criminals" quote was widely criticized as racist and dehumanizing, with many commentators drawing a connection between Trump's language and the "superpredator" theory from the 1990s. Governor Wes Moore: The governor of Maryland directly addressed the comments, telling children in his state, "Do not listen to what Donald Trump called you yesterday". He added, "I respect the office, but I will never honor ignorance". Representative Ayanna Pressley: The Massachusetts congresswoman stated that Trump's rhetoric "is dangerous, that is dehumanizing, and that rhetoric, combined with military presence, is meant to keep communities living in fear". Historians and experts: Critics noted that the idea of a "born criminal" has a long history, dating back to the racist theories of 19th-century criminologist Cesare Lombroso, who believed criminals were "primitive" and identifiable by physical traits. Comparison to "genetic" remarks: This was not the first time Trump suggested a genetic link to criminality. In October 2024, he said that migrants who commit murder do so because "it's in their genes" and that there were "a lot of bad genes in our country" RE: And so THIS is why we still need DEI... - Syne - Oct 6, 2025 Where did he say "urban"? @_@ Imagining things again? RE: And so THIS is why we still need DEI... - Magical Realist - Oct 6, 2025 You just said he was moron: "Trump wasn't talking about all urban children." Well that certainly makes everything ok! lol RE: And so THIS is why we still need DEI... - Secular Sanity - Oct 6, 2025 (Oct 6, 2025 09:45 PM)Magical Realist Wrote: Oh..just the Washington DC "urban" kids. Is it the new social norm? Should we just stand by and let it happen? Who cares if his remarks were harsh? Certainly not the parents of the dead "urban" kids. RE: And so THIS is why we still need DEI... - Magical Realist - Oct 6, 2025 Well the answer certainly isn't just stationing military troops on street corners in major cities. But it will sure make Trump look good come midterms taking credit for any natural dips in their crime rates. So do you think calling kids in urban sectors "born criminals" helps or hurts in the goal of alleviating crime? Or are you one of the ones who doesn't care about that? He said that they took hardcore criminals off the street in Washington, DC. He was talking about them, and no, people aren’t born to be criminals. Some may have been born with higher risks factors, but it’s not a nature vs. nurture debate, is it? So, no, he didn’t call kids in urban sectors "born criminals". He called the arrested criminals born criminals. |
