Americans invented Canada so they could get to Alaska by land. This Reader’s Digest history of the world reminded me of my favourite condensed version of a fairy tale that goes: ’Once upon a time the end.’ RE: History of the whole world in 20 minutes.. - Syne - Jul 17, 2025 Has Canada had any major impact on world history? Plenty of countries haven't. RE: History of the whole world in 20 minutes.. - C C - Jul 17, 2025 If only the US Border Patrol would treat Canada as fictional, instead of wasting taxpayer money trying to obstruct migrants from going there. (Exempting when it's dangerous, like during the winter.) We're entering a new era where the United States is now just a "walk over" country for getting to Canada. "Once again, the Plattsburgh area is at a migration crossroads [for those going to Canada]. Anyone living near the border can attest to it. [...] Rowe has recorded dozens of migrants passing [...] In January, he witnessed an incident in real time: in his driveway, a swarm of US Border Patrol officers arrested a migrant who had arrived by Uber. The car had been called to Rowe’s driveway in broad daylight—not a usual sight in a world where everyone tries to stay hidden." This was, of course, before Trump's measures being fully realized. But I expect they're probably still wasting resources on stopping Canadian bound migrants (where applicable at the border). I know Carney has slowed things down a little with respect to immigration to The Great White North, for the sake of letting housing catch up. But Carney is still committed to Trudeau's goals.Migrants Follow Risky Path into Canada as US Deportation Threats Grow RE: History of the whole world in 20 minutes.. - Yazata - Jul 17, 2025 Trump's people are boasting of many illegals self-deporting. My guess is that lots of them are simply going to Canada. My guess is that lots of them are simply going to Canada. Been going on a long time, way before Trump. Obviously where I live means I hear about illegals entering Canada from US all the time, although not just one way traffic. But it’s a long border so ya, people come and go. |
