Sinners - Magical Realist - Jul 8, 2025

"Sinners" is an awesome movie! The music soundtrack alone is incredible. If you like the Blues, oh, and vampires, you'll love this. I only caught the last hour and a half of it. I need to watch the whole thing.

RE: Sinners - C C - Jul 8, 2025

The Delta Blues Era a great setting for potentially a lot of genres. (Mississippi John Hurt's style was a forerunner of Merle Travis, Chet Atkins, and Tommy Emmanuel. Fully sounds like two guitars playing: Stack O' Lee)

The three songs (1937-39) that the Robert Johnson supernatural myth was derived from, slowed down to almost the correct speed. 78 RPMs had the original recordings speeded up so they could fit more music on the shellac discs. Which gave Johnson a higher pitched, caterwauling voice on those. Willie Johnson's "Dark Was The Night" thrown in for good measure, since it has a haunting character to it.
