Supermoon and hurricane Idalia - Leigha - Aug 29, 2023
It would be awesome if those on here outside of the storm’s path could post some pics of the Supermoon in this thread. I’ll be dealing with most likely, strong bands and not the storm’s “eye,” unless the track changes. Either way, I’ll have zero visibility tonight into the early morning hours until the storm passes, so I won’t be able to see this rare, blue moon.
I wonder how it will impact the storm surge.

Alas, we are expecting clouds with rain tomorrow night. So looks like I'll have to miss this super blue moon. Will I even be alive for the next one in 2037?

While the real deal is tomorrow, there's nevertheless a passably clear sky and tonight's Moon was exceedingly bright -- it's no slacker by any means. Four very broad rays were shooting from it that formed an X-pattern, with a "dimmer" surrounding light filling the gaps between them.
The video below gets close in terms of brightness, but exhibits only two rays (in the initial focus), and has no surface features visible, and is marred by clouds behind it.

Someone posted it on LinkedIn and it was like a slate blue. This guy had a pretty awesome telescope, the details were wow.
