Big Wildfire in Kelowna BC - Yazata - Aug 19, 2023

It isn't just Maui. Another bigtime resort area is struck by wildfires.

This time it's Kelowna BC, on lake Okanagan. (Kind of the Lake Tahoe of Canada.) Evacuation orders are in place for part of the city and surrounding areas and they say that structures have burned.

B-I-L & wife live in Penticton, 60 km south. They were told a few hours ago to prepare for possible evacuation. They’re nervous.

Hey, Z-man. I'm hoping they and their property & possessions remain safe. I'm not an expert, but it's starting to sound hopeful. The firefighters seem to think that they have their lines in and can prevent the fire from entering populated places. As always in fires like this, there are tales of heroism and lots of plain hard exhausting work from the firecrews.
