Malaria, cure for cancer? - elte - Oct 13, 2015

The proteins on the malaria parasite attach to most types of cancer cells.

It would be interesting to see a study on the number of cancer deaths of malaria survivers compared to the general population.

That's a surprising source for the "guided missile" approach. Without the toxin added to to its protein, the malaria parasite probably doesn't offer any anti-cancer benefits for those infected or once infected with it -- but then again, who knows. Not the first time that a disease or other type menace has ironically offered something advantageous in a different area.
