The merits or otherwise of heavy government subsidizing of renewables has been much aired.
Yet it comes as a shock to find out how staggering are the sums devoted worldwide to subsidizing traditional fossil fuel industries, and nuclear for that matter.
Some would see it as the ultimate rort.
