Sounds kind of like a youth version of "The Banshees of Inisherin". Though the reasons for the developing "distancing" (turning into hostility?) aren't the same, and the latter never much exhibited the original state of the friendship in the beginning.
Due to the English captioning, would be better for me to watch it in a theater, since I'm usually doing something else at the same time when watching television. Too intermittently distracted to constantly stayed glued to the screen to read. But unlikely to ever catch it in a public viewing environment.
