Warm milk nightcap with a spicy twist - Leigha - Jul 4, 2022 Something comforting and soothing to sip on at night. 1 cup almond, oat or regular dairy milk 1/2 teaspoon organic turmeric 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg Drop or two of vanilla extract A few “pods” of cardamom Add all of these ingredients to a medium sauce pan and heat until warm or slightly hot. Not scalding. Strain to keep the pods from going in your cup. Pour the remaining mixture into your favorite cup and enjoy. I’m a little obsessed with turmeric lately - it’s quite a magical spice, and nutmeg has relaxation properties. I'd add a tablespoon of honey for sweetness. Something about milk and sweets (high carbs?) puts me to sleep quickly. It’s not processed like other sugary snacks, like eating a donut or whatever right before bed would be a bad idea, imo. Sleep disruption and the tendency for nightmares is increased when we eat foods like that at night.(Jul 4, 2022 01:50 AM)Leigha Wrote: Something comforting and soothing to sip on at night. Surprisingly, turmeric is delicious in warm milk and smoothies. Who knew? It turns the milk golden orange. Kind of strange at first but I’ve become a little obsessed. |
