KEY POINTS: • The History Channel's latest 'The Proof is Out There' episode investigates the story of Bigfoot • The Patterson–Gimlin film from 1967 claims to have captured the creature in northern California • The show brings in experts in computer science, anthropology and costume design to dissect the film • The team looks at how the figures feet interacts with the ground as it walk • They also analyze how its body moves, which they say would not be possible in a manmade suit • The figure in the film would also be at least seven feet tall and 700 pounds EXCERPT: Computer vision algorithms were applied to stabilize the images, producing a final version that is much clearer to make out – as if Patterson had the camera standing on a tripod while shooting from the riverbed. Bob Heironimus, a retired Pepsi bottler from Yakima, came forward years after the footage was released claiming he wore the costume used to make the ‘fake’ video. As an avid Bigfoot fan, I will definitely tune in for this and see what they find. My opinion is the PG footage is actual footage of a bigfoot. You can see the musculature in the fur and even female breasts. Day later: I thought the treatment of the subject was overall balanced and objective. A few things became clearer with the new film like the flexing calf muscle, the butt crack, the flexing toes while walking, and the breast. Also brought up objections like the line on the thigh which was explained by the brush of the hand over the fur. I am more convinced than ever that the subject of the film is a real Bigfoot. Have there been any reports of DNA findings that don’t match any verified species? Like has anyone ever made any such claims, that they’ve tested alleged DNA from wooded areas where perhaps mysterious footprints were discovered? I don’t believe there are any peer reviews to substantiate Big Foot’s existence. RE: "The Proof is Out There" analyzes the 1967 Bigfoot film: Is it is real or a hoax? - Magical Realist - Dec 8, 2021 They have come up with some DNA samples that show an unknown species. Normally though they are of a bear or a deer. Once I heard it was human in origin. That would make sense if Bigfoot was close to human on the evolutionary scale.
