INTRO: One very lucky impala managed to escape three of the most dangerous types of animals in Africa, eluding 16 wild dogs, swimming through crocodile-infested waters and finally ducking a pod of very surly hippos.
And the impala did it all in under 2 minutes, as seen in this video posted by Kruger Sightings...

A very fortunate impala. Made me appreciate the predator/prey interaction and its evolutionary effect. Since this escape for survival proved successful will it eventually, over the generations, become part of the playbook if it isn’t already? Obviously running or swimming the gauntlet was a better option than standing ground in this case. When backed into a corner facing certain death, the animal gave itself a chance to live and most importantly, to pass on a gene or two.

Although it's not in the same category but it reminds me of while I was sat somewhere I had a mouse running towards me with a rat chasing it. It saw I was there and although I'd seen it a few times creep up near where I was and it would run away if I flinched. It decided that it would use me a potential predator to escape what it was being chased by since it already had an idea of how quick I'd react or how far I'd move. The rat didn't spot me straight away but they both darted different directions when they did. The mouse was probably saved from being rat food.
