KEY POINTS: (1) The SpaceX founder was speaking Thursday when he made the stark prediction. Musk has already said he hopes to get humans on Mars by 2026.

(2) But a barefoot Musk warned Thursday: 'Going to Mars reads like that advert for Shackleton going to the Antarctic. You know it is dangerous, it's uncomfortable'.

(3) 'You might not come back alive but it is a glorious adventure,' Musk added

(4) He said: 'Yeah, honestly a bunch of people will probably die in the beginning'.

(5) SpaceX brought spaceflight back to America last May, launching NASA astronauts from Kennedy Space Center to the International Space Station.

This was kind of interesting.

This 1953 Book "Mars Project" by rocket scientist Von Braun, predicted a person named Elon would bring humans to Mars

I checked to see if it was true. It doesn’t say a man named Elon but it does say Elon is a title.

"The Martian government was directed by ten men, the leader of whom was elected by universal suffrage for five years and entitled "Elon." Two houses of Parliament enacted the laws to be administered by the Elon and his cabinet."

Weird, eh?

Yah, that is a notable highlight in co-inza-dinky territory. Have never been able to dig up anything on why either his Canadian mother or his malicious SA father named him "Elon". Remarkable how poor he still was right up to 1995 -- sleeping in an office and showering at the YMCA.

Unusual for me to remember anything from even a month ago these days, but against the grain I did recall Yazata also posting about this back in 2019: https://www.scivillage.com/thread-7425-post-30657.html#pid30657

Great memory, C C! I love it! I’ll post my response in that topic.
