“Everyone is a little bitter. We're born bitter. The personality itself is really just a very complex defense mechanism. A reaction to the first time someone said, "No you can't.”
― Marc Maron, Attempting Normal
"Everything has been figured out, except how to live."---Sartre
“We are torn between nostalgia for the familiar and an urge for the foreign and strange. As often as not, we are homesick most for the places we have never known.”
― Carson McCullers
“I am a forest, and a night of dark trees: but he who is not afraid of my darkness, will find banks full of roses under my cypresses.”

“It is a well-documented fact that guys will not ask for directions. This is a biological thing. This is why it takes several million sperm cells... to locate a female egg, despite the fact that the egg is, relative to them, the size of Wisconsin.”

During the period when West and East Germany were re-integrating, the host/hostess and film crews ventured to these heavy machinery industrial and roadwork sites in the former communist state. One of the managers expressed as a consensus view about why they hired women to operate these giant cranes, earth-movers, and other things. Paraphrasing from memory: "Women are initially less accident prone because they're not afraid to ask questions about how to run the equipment and what they need to do in various situations. Whereas male employees new to a specific task tend to posture themselves as knowing everything, afraid to inquire too much because they feel it makes them look weak."
