The name appears to be a combination of 'e' for 'electric' and 'tron' as in 'electron'.
But oops... apparently 'etron' is French for 'shit'.
(You would think that a car company in next-door Germany would find that out before they roll out the car.)
Reminds me of the old Chevy Nova, which always got laughs in Latin America because 'nova' sounds like 'doesn't go' in Spanish.
