I've read an interpretation of that Bible passage ''eye for an eye...'' and it really was intended to implement limits within the laws of the land at that time. Because people would sometimes take ''more than an eye,'' when a wrong was done to them, the limit was that you couldn't ''retaliate'' more than what was done to you. We don't have laws like these today, so it's hard to make sense of this type of judicial system, but that is an interpretation that I thought was interesting. As time went on, we eventually came to view the passage as being against revenge, in a general sense.

Quote: "he must pay the value of the child to the husband and the compensation for injury and pain to the woman", why would it go on to say "eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, burn for burn, wound for wound, bruise for bruise"? Those are "injury and pain" that it explicitly says should be repaid in kind, not with monetary compensation.

Because it's talking about injury specifically to the woman, for which the punishment of like damage is demanded, including death. The verse and the interpretation are very clear as I have repeated it about 4 times already. If you don't get it by now, then move on. I'm not going to repeat myself again.

It never specifies "injury specifically to the woman", so you are making up stuff that simply isn't there. Considering your general lack of reading comprehension, I guess that's to be expected. Rolleyes

No spoilers, but I really think the ending fell flat. Seemed sloppy and rushed.

I agree. It wasn't worthy of the characters' story arc. But I'm glad it's over with. I can't watch another episode. I was too obsessed with the whole series.

lol agreed. I'm glad it ended because if HBO is going to control the storyline, we'd get more of what season 8 had been.

Well, there goes another show I never watched. Put it right up there with Big Bang Theory (& Young Sheldon) and Vikings.  Last show I ever saw every episode of was Married with Children, a cartoon with real actors, shows you where my head’s at.

Speaking of cartoons, if you can somehow find an English version of 1954 Oscar winner called Speedy Gonzales on the Internet, you’ll might see what could have inspired Donald Trump’s Mexican Wall. Funny as Hell with a lot more social issues than border talk going on, well over a kid’s head. Probably would be banned today.

Has to be this one, right?

You’re close SS. That’s an edited version, all of the middle part is missing. There is a full Spanish version out there but full English is practically non existent. At least your video has the ‘Manuel getting the short straw’ segment....just love that part when he emerges from the group with the thousand yard stare and ends with his sombrero getting tossed into the already growing pile. What kid gets that stuff? Ok, maybe when I was a kid we didn’t get it. Also the reference to Speedy's womanizing exploits is evident.

Great cartoons back then and what can you say about the many voices of Mel Blanc.....probably the greatest ever to ply the trade.
